The family is spreading thin. I'm cooking less these days. We use to gather at mom's house for Sunday dinners. Now that she's gone and with years of Covid, we don't do much of that anymore. My prayers are with you and your family Lauren, on the loss of your mom. I lost my mom a few months back, I miss many things, her great cooking among them. My mom never use recipes, so it's hard to duplicate her dishes. Every time I ask her how much of this and that to add when it comes to a particulate dough recipe or anything else. She would say add enough by the way it as feel in your hands or just taste it. Till this day after many tries, I still cannot duplicate a recipe that our families love. There is a place where she buys fresh milled flour. That place doesn't exist any longer.

And all pasta, regardless, is macaroni.... LOL! Exactly. Does your Does your Sunday gravy includes braciole? I remember an episode of Everybody Love Raymond where Marie falsely teaches Debra how to make braciole. It was comedical.

Sorry to hear that Joe. Losing a mom is always sad, even if it happens after a long and beautiful life. There are some things that cannot be replaced. Even though she's been gone for a few years, looking at her photos makes me sad. I know exactly what you're saying Lauren. I miss my parents everyday, but mostly on Sundays.

Yep, the family's Sunday gravy includes sweet pork sausage, meatballs, and pork braciole. One of my favorite snacks is still slice bread and gravy, with some Pecorino-Romano cheese sprinkled on top. I never saw that episode of Everybody Love Raymond, it sounds funny though.

Here's something humorous, my friend told me a few years back when he recently married that his wife's cooking is missing something. It's doesn't taste like his mom's cooking. I told him he better not make those comments to his wife.

No, the only rump we had over for dinner was one of my sister's ex boyfriends. I'm joking, my sister's boyfriend was a nice guy.
We would eat Thanksgiving dinner early as if it was a Sunday, so my mom would serve Lasagna on Thanksgiving night. God Bless her, I don't know how she did it after making such a big Thanksgiving dinner.

We lost my dad when I was in high school, and mom showed herself to be so much stronger than we knew. Mom's are special!

Which used to be real inexpensive, now they are considered high end and cost 3 times what they used to.

My wife and I watch that show every night ! Doris Roberts was perfect as mom, but Peter Boyle seemed such an odd choice as an Italian-American dad...but it worked.
