Yes...mayo is mandatory for egg, tuna & potato salads, although I also like German style potato salad. But I'll usually add tabasco to all of those. Yep mayo is good on potato salad too, I like mine with little bits of fresh apple in it. I enjoy German Style and Penn Dutch potato salad. Another good one is an Italian potato salad that a deli not far from where I live makes. That potato salad has oil and vinegar with capers. To each their own, as with the potato salad with bits of apple in it, I didn't think I was going to like the Italian potato salad, but both salads are delicious. I seem to recalled you have a niece bringing you delicious bake goods? Your posted pics was mouth watering...

I grew San Marzano and other variety of tomatoes but decided to not grow them this season. San Marzano/Roma are great paste tomatoes in making sauce. Wanted to limit my growth to make it more manageable. Indeed sliced tomatoes, sliced fresh mozzarella, and fresh basil is delicious on hot summer days. And who can resist home made pizza? Yummy!!! I loved picking cherry tomatoes, blister them in olive oil/garlic toss in pasta and a handful of basil. Adding cheese if desired. A quick meal on hot summer nights. Ever tried hot honey drizzled on pizza? Try it, brand of choice is Brooklyn's own Mikes Extra Hot Honey and Bees Knees Spicy Honey, Hot honey is also great drizzled on barbecue ribs/chicken (yummy on wings). One thing I appreciate about our new home is that I'm learning so much more about some of the YES posters. Lauren, you sound like a fabulous chef! The family is spreading thin. I'm cooking less these days. We use to gather at mom's house for Sunday dinners. Now that she's gone and with years of Covid, we don't do much of that anymore.

Seems most families anchor around the mother. Our family stopped the holiday gatherings around the time my mother moved to another state back in the 90’s. I suppose many family gatherings lost their impetus after the COVID pandemic… Sympathies for your loss..,

For years I cooked two Sunday dinners. One went to my mother's home where we ate at 1:00 and the second to the home of my mother-in-law. She enjoyed her main meal of the day about 6:00. My wife remarked earlier today how much less hectic, and full. that life is today. I am fine with facebook, videocalls and all the rest that families use today....but Sundays were special.

I forgot to mention that I like mayo on roast beef Italian hero with salt, pepper, and iceberg lettuce. I used to eat that plain, but when I was about 10 years old my next door neighbor/childhood friend that I'm still friends with today invited me over his parent's house for lunch. I saw him putting mayo on his Italian hero, so I asked him if he was nuts. He said to try it, I didn't think I was going to like it, but I figured how bad could it be. I've been eating roast beef heroes that way ever since.
My same friend's mom shared with my mom a great idea for turkey heroes. She would soak the inside of the bread with brown gravy. Now, I made myself hungry, and the Sunday gravy (sauce) I smell cooking isn't helping.

Back to the gravy/sauce debate... lol! To each their own, but I have a large family and a large group of friends that I grew up with. Their families are friends with my family. So growing up, I never heard anyone call gravy, sauce. Gravy was gravy and brown gravy was just called well...brown gravy.
