This is a bargain for the Yankees, 7 years might be a little long for a 29 year old, but 10 million per year is a steal. I don't think we've seen the best of Hicks yet and he's already a very good player. I like what the Yankees have done with Hicks and Sevy, getting them locked up. www.mlb.com/news/hicks-signs-7-year-deal-with-yankees

I could see a 3-4 contract extension; BUT a 7-year deal???

I could see a 3-4 contract extension; BUT a 7-year deal??? I'd rather have seen five years, but 70 million is a drop in the bucket for a switch hitting CF with power who has good OBP skills.

I agree CHI. Of course the deal might be a year or two too long but its not a big deal when its only at 10 million a year. A win for the Yankees!

My only worry with Hicks is those glass obliques that he has!

Cashman really made a great trade for Hicks.

Cashman really made a great trade for Hicks. A starting CF with almost 5.0 WAR in 2018 for a third string catcher.

Yea the money makes the years worth it here. A $10mm salary in 2025-2026 is really not going to be a big deal.

At $10 mil per season, they could have signed him for twenty years without too much of a sting. What an unexpected bargain...This new free agent stagnation is spelled O-p-p-o-r-t-u-n-i-t-y and Cash is all over it...Watch for Gleyber and Miggy's deals in a couple more seasons...and THE JUDGE...

Apparently Betances is next on the docket. I have long been a proponent of extending Betances...I wavered a little bit but I would be good with it on anything 4 years or less.

Betances turns 31 next month, so I wonder how long the Yanks would want to extend him? He has been relatively healthy during his career.

Good deal for the Yanks, and apparently good enough for Hicks as well. Seems like he might have gotten more AAV in free agency, but not as many years. Thank you Minnesota Twins for giving at least partial reparation to the Yankees for releasing David Ortiz. And yes, I know the Yanks could have signed him as a FA too, but they didn't.
The Sevvy and Hicks deals have been remarkably team-friendly. Let's see if Cash Money can slip one past Aaron Judge next.
