Note: Ruthie had her head shaved bald yesterday in support of my sister, who had to have her head shaved for her cancer treatments...
Me? Nah. I have a lumpy head. Plus, so glad to still have a good head of hair. That brain cancer runs in the family, so I’m just hoping I never HAVE to shave mine...

Loaisiga continuing to throw a million pitches per inning. He needs something off-speed for a put away pitch. If not, he’ll become Sonny Gray II. Not a good thing to be...

I’m going to miss most of this one. Elderly folks a couple house down invited us over to play cards. They’re such nice people, I hate to turn them down. It’s big entertainment for George. He can’t physically do much anymore...His wife is a bit more active, but I think it really pleases her to see George have fun... So, toot hard gang. We don’t have to leave for a few more minutes... Good for you Inger. I sometimes think playing cards is becoming a lost art. Poker, Pinochle, Bridge, Rummy, Canasta, Euchre, Hearts, anything this side of 52 pickup -- it's all good.

Damn. Bruce takes a hit away from Frazier. Nice approach at the plate by Frazier.

Have any of guys ever played a card game called setback or pitch or High-Low-Jack-Game? Three different names for the same card game. We played it all the time in Pennsylvania, but no one in Illinois has ever heard of it.

For anyone worrying about our friend Sonny Gray... Thus far in 2019 he’s pitching okayish. He’s 0-4; 3.89 with decent peripherals, in particular BA against...
As a side note, though I didn’t look him up, I was a bit amused to see a “Chummy” Gray listed in Baseball-Reference...Sonny, Chummy... Those Grays are friendly folks...

When I was at Penn State many years ago, Pinochle was the national game. At least five nights a week we played. I should have mentioned Cribbage too. My wife's game. Anybody remember the Rootie Kazootie card game? From the era of Go Fish and Old Maid.

We had barely lived here a week before we were invited to play a game we had never heard of, Hand and Foot. I swore would never do it, but once I got away from AmeriGas and didn’t have to work all the time, I decided to try it. Recently, one of the neighbors took a trip to see some family out of state and came home in love with a game called Golf (card version, of course). The neighborhood has become split between the two. Both can be very long to play, especially since there are six or eight couples that get together some of the nights. I think it’s three couples tonight, so maybe we’ll get home by 10:00...First deal at 5:30, so we’d best get our arses over there. George will be chafing...

Man, Kikuchi is breezing through this one. Twenty nine pitches, no hits through three.

My job and family don’t leave me much time to play anymore but once upon a time I was pretty good at it and at some point in my life I am going to do more of it. Big part of my retirement plan is being within a drive of a decent poker room.
