I see it now:
Drug lord may have hired David Ortiz shooter over alleged affair with his wife
Authorities in the Dominican Republic believe David Ortiz was shot by two police officers hired by a drug lord who thought the former Red Sox slugger was having an affair with his wife, according to a report.
Three law enforcement sources have confirmed the motive to the Daily Mail. The local drug lord has not been identified.
I wish I hadn’t seen it, but I did... So many athletes put themselves in risky situations. I think it’s because they are allowed to get away with so much that they always assume they’ll get to slide on the next one... Money and drugs...most people with cash to burn find themselves at the same events, parties, and vacation spots as those purveyors of the high life. Paths cross, a friend of a friend, on the same yacht, at the premier....like ants and flys at picnics.

AGREED!!! Of course I chose Mexico so I shouldn't be throwing rocks if I live in a glass house. Why DID you make that choice, Dome?... Because I LOVE Adventures. Also I had travel to Mexico well over 50-times and I loved the country.
Before I moved, I looked into FOUR other parts of the World; but Mexico came out the best for me.

Chilling new details emerge in the attempted murder of David Ortiz
Six men are now in custody in the Dominican Republic tied to the attempted murder of baseball star David Ortiz, authorities announced Wednesday, saying it was a coordinated attack for which the men were allegedly paid the equivalent of $8,000.
Jean Alain Rodríguez Sánchez, the Dominican Republic’s chief prosecutor, spoke at a press briefing, indicating that authorities believe they have the alleged shooter in custody but are still pursuing one more suspect. They still haven’t announced a motive for the attack on Ortiz or who paid for it.
Ney Aldrin Bautista Almonte, the director of the Dominican National Police, presented the black handgun allegedly used to shoot Ortiz on Sunday night outside of a popular nightspot in Ortiz’s hometown of Santo Domingo. It was the first time authorities confirmed publicly that the shooters were paid to target Ortiz.
Authorities say the attack on Ortiz was planned the night before. According to court documents obtained by The Boston Globe, the men believed to be part of the plot met again Sunday night with two cars and a motorcycle parked nearby.
Two men — including alleged shooter Ramón Martínez Perez, who goes by the name Rolfie and was named for the first time Wednesday — left on the motorcycle to attack Ortiz. The driver was 25-year-old Eddy Vladimir Feliz García, who lost control of the motorcycle, crashed and was detained and beaten by nearby citizens. Initial reports from the scene believed that García was the shooter.
The shooter escaped on foot, returned to the two vehicles and fled the scene. Witnesses were able to identify the cars and police tracked down Perez.
Among those in custody, according to The Globe, is Oliver Moisés Mirabal Acosta. Acosta, according to Dominican newspapers, was previously sentenced to prison time on an illegal gun charge and was accused of being part of four execution-style killings in 2013 that were tied to a local drug gang.

Just don’t know what to think of this situation. I’d like to hear the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, but we may not ever really know.
In his baseball career, there were two David Ortiz. There was a slender one that struggled to get playing time with the Twins, and then there was a bulky and muscle-bound one that became an historic DH.
That person became the beloved “Big Papi”. Perhaps there are two “real life” David Ortiz as well. One of them seemed at the very least to run in circles that made contact with some unsavory people that he offended. We may never hear the whole truth, sort of like when David tested positive for PEDs. That turned out to be someone else’s fault, as Ortiz dodged responsibility, blaming a friend. Perhaps he needs better friends...

Lots of Yankee fans would have paid more in 2004.

They should have paid for Arod to be beat up since his inability to hit a sac fly in game 4 ultimately was the key problem. Ortiz would not have mattered had he done so.

I haven't been able to read past the headlines that say Ortiz was shot in the Dominican, and I flinch thinking how much that spot must hurt...

Don’t know how reliable nj.com is, but they are reporting that Ortiz bought an $85,000 Lexus for the gang leader’s wife the day before he was shot...
Ortiz is still in ICU in guarded condition, but is making progress. The story seems to swing wildly between this mistaken identity and a “love” triangle gone wrong...
