Very nice performance from Hale with two scoreless innings. Maybe this is his Graeme Lloyd year. His stuff looked good.

In case Inger is reading this, the catcher Sanchez is tied with is Rudy York. It was his only full season as a catcher before becoming a first baseman.
He had a nice career. I remember lots of people from that generation -- including my father -- talking about him.

YES has been showing that dropped pop up by Luis Castillo off the bat of A-Rod on what should have been the last out of the game but instead resulted in the Yankees winning. Tomorrow is the tenth anniversary of that game. Hard to believe it was that long ago. If memory serves, K-Rod was going into his little move at the time. Made it that much sweeter. Tex scored the winning run. I remember that night well. I was on vacation with my family in the Wisconsin Dells and also, my favorite hockey team, The Penguins, won the Stanley Cup over the heavenly favored Detroit Red Wings! |

Seriously, the Mets do have some nice young players. Alonzo is obvious, but boy do I like McNeil. That kid can play.

The Wisconsin Dells are beautiful, but largely unknown on the coasts. The Pens have had their share of glory, haven't they? I remember their first year in the NHL in that initial wave of expansion that brought in six teams. The Igloo was the oldest arena in the league for a few years. |
