I guess that one game took a lot out of Stanton.
Sanchez catching a day after a night game.

Nicely animated, and he looks so happy. The team has to win this game for him...

I guess that one game took a lot out of Stanton. Sanchez catching a day after a night game. I started thinking about this and since Sabathia has struggled, he may want the best defensive players in the lineup. Of course, with Snell being a tough lefty, DiDi gets a day off, but that doesn’t explain Stanton sitting and Gardner hitting. Unless Gardner is the hot bat right now and the better defender than just having Stanton in as a right handed bat? Either way, I’m glad to see Gio playing.

Unless Gardner is the hot bat right now and the better defender than just having Stanton in as a right handed bat? Either way, I’m glad to see Gio playing. Stanton is 1-5 vs. Snell with a HR. Gardner has never homered off Snell, and is 4-15. Though Snell has seen very few LHH this season, his splits are way out of wack as he’s allowed them to hit .310 with an OPS of .798. Gardner is at his best against fastballs from right-handed pitchers, so maybe the feeling is that he’ll run into a fastball from the lefty Snell despite his weak performance vs. lefties this season. Maybe Stanton is a bit sore from stretching to reach into the stands to make that catch we saw. Maybe Boone got a telepathic message from his native Venus where it’s already three days from now and was told Gardner is the best choice for today. Maybe noetsi calculated Stanton’s .200 average vs. Snell and Gardner’s .267 and posted on the manager’s advisory forum that was a big swing in “pointage”, and Boone is all in on Noetsi ball...

Hopefully its just some weird Boone reasoning and he didnt re injure himself. I'm not seeing anything searching on Google and Twitter so unless they're hiding something I think its just Boone being extra cautious with him.
