Offensively the teams were close, but they were able to hit home runs and we were not. We should start with Cortez tomorrow Our starters keep putting us so far behind its nearly impossible to come back

Torres gets to hit with two strikes this time and gets a hit. I have no idea what Voit was doing. Russ still gives Torres a poor grade because of the other two pitches...

Suddenly, the Oriole's starters are something Yankee fans covet. Geez it's been bad for the last week or two. Paxton has officially morphed into Sonny Gray redux.

I wonder if the entire rotation is suffering from an injury at this point. Anyway... when it stops it will end...

You wonder if paxton is hiding an injury He did have 9 K's, 0 walks and was throwing in the high 90's. It seems like a consistency issue with Paxton, plus the troubles in the first inning continued.

The guy has a bum landing knee, but I was looking at that when he was taking a beating and didn’t pick up any sign of anything drastic there...Betts was on fire tonight. Sometimes you eat the bear, and sometimes the bear eats you. The bear feasted well tonight. We’ve seen series between these two teams that look like one team is going to sweep after two games that have wound up being split before. Playing in the wacky park in Boston makes for some goofy results...And anything they can do, we can do, too...

One man’s failure is another man’s success. Sometimes you just have to prove you can do something. You live with too much fear...

Renfield's comment about Sonny Paxton seems appropriate.....what in the world is going on there? The thought about pitchers the Yankees acquired that turned to mush during their time in NY popped into my head earlier today. We all think of Ed Whitson, Andy Hawkins, Jeff Weaver, Javier Vazquez, and now Sonny Gray. I also thought of Terry Mullholland today. For some reason, this phenomenon doesn’t seem to present equally in hitters, though we’ve had a few Tony Womacks, too. I’m sure there have been other hitters that failed, but pitcher or hitter, they should be someone who was better before playing in NY, and were able to re-establish themselves to near their former level of play when moved to another franchise. Perhaps the phenomenon presents more in pitchers because they are in the center of the diamond and carry individual stats that reflect more on the performance of he team, such as runs allowed and the wins and losses that go on their records...
