It was a good win. Baltimore had the bases loaded in the 8th with a 3-1 count and failed to score

I wouldn't have guessed this. I wouldn't have guessed that either. Verlander maybe, or Scherzer or Kershaw. Pretty sweet. I guess he's a bit like the old Jerry Reed song, "When you're hot you're hot, when you're not you're not."

Not sure how they ruled it but Houston just got an inside the park home run if they did not rule a throwing error.
How can any team be so bad

I didn't realize the Yanks have a double header tomorrow. This makes Tanaka going 8 innings even more impressive and important, the bullpen was able to get some much needed rest. Completely. And explains why they needed fresh arms for the moves made today.

Tanaka was a victim of London and then one other start where the Red Sox were hot and he was not. Essentially, in those two games he pitched 4 innings and allowed 18 earned runs. Throw out those two stinkers, and Tanaka has a 3.57 ERA, good for 13th in the AL for all pitchers with over 100 innings pitched. Much more Tanaka like, even in a year with low stitches on the baseball and most everyone setting personal and team home run records.
Credit Tanaka for changing his grip in the middle of the season and moving to the left side of the pitching rubber to better attack inside against both lefties and righties.

Orioles up 5-4 over Houston in the eighth. Not getting my hopes up. And of course the Orioles blow it.
