Two well-traveled, seasoned, high ERA lefties take the mound. The best thing about Milone is his WHIP and strikeout to walk ratio. Both watch the ball leave the park with regularity. This could be a laser-light show slugfest...even in a pitchers' park.
Lineups not yet posted, but here's my always incorrect projection:
1. D.J. LeMahieu (R) - 2B 2. Aaron Judge (R) - RF 3. Gleyber Torres (R) - SS 4. Gary Sanchez (R) - DH 5. Brett Gardner (L) - CF 6. Gio Urshela (R) - 3B 7. Mike Ford (L) - 1B 8. Austin Romine (R) - C 9. Cameron Maybin (R) - LF
Actual Lineup:
1. DJ LeMahieu (R) 2B 2. Aaron Judge (R) RF 3. Brett Gardner (L) CF 4. Gleyber Torres (R) SS 5. Gary Sanchez (R) DH 6. Mike Tauchman (L) LF 7. Gio Urshela (R) 3B 8. Austin Romine (R) C 9. Mike Ford (L) 1B

Our old friend Francisco Cervelli is starting catcher tonight for the Atlanta Braves!

What is remarkable about Cervelli is he just got cut by Pittsburg

Ex-Yankee starters tonight, without every line-up yet posted:
Francisco Cervelli - Catcher (Atlanta) Garrett Cooper - First Base (Miami) Second Base Neil Walker - Third Base (Miami) Starlin Castro - Short Stop (Miami) Left Field Center Field Melky Cabrera - Right Field (Pittsburgh) Sony Gray - Starting Pitcher (Cincinnati)
With roughly half the MLB teams NOT in action tonight, we could always fill in with Jake Cave in Center Field and Billy McKinney in Left Field. I would be reaching to put Hanser Alberto at Second Base, since he was just a short-time, minor-league waiver pick-up from Texas.

What is remarkable about Cervelli is he just got cut by Pittsburg Even more remarkable is that Cervelli went 3-5 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI in his first start with Atlanta.

By the way,[img class="smile" src="//storage.proboards.com/6828121/images/IeJjHOWlXMXfniDFrMn0.gif" alt=" "], Dallas Keuchel went seven innings against the Mets yesterday in a 2-1 victory: 7 innings, 4 hits, 0 runs, 0 earned runs, 3 walks, 7 strikeouts.

It was only a few weeks ago that Cervelli said he was done with catching after his sixth concussion. I thought that was why the Pirates released him. I guess he changed his mind.
He's been a good on-base guy for a catcher, but for most of his career he couldn't stay healthy. He never appeared in as many as 100 games in a season at any level until his first season in Pittsburgh at age 29, when he appeared in 130 games, by far his highest total.

Yeah, he's done better than I expected, for sure. But a lot of teams who could have used him didn't want to pony up either. The Braves are looking strong right now.

Hard to believe he has lasted this long as a journeyman major league catcher, especially since he was signed by the Yankees at age 17 in 2003 as an infielder/pitcher and had never before played the position of catcher. Still, he's only 33 years old.

We do know now that he had a preference to be with the Yankees, and all it would have taken was 1.3 million more than they offered. His last three starts he has gone 6, 6, and 7 innings and given up a total of 1 run cumulatively. His ERA is down to 3.78, and he has given up 3 runs or fewer in 10 of his 13 starts. Ground ball, left-handed pitcher in Yankee Stadium - I just cannot wrap my mind around - then or now - not taking a chance with all of the injuries they have had.

Talking about former Yankees starting tonight sent me looking up Yangervis Solarte to see what he was up to. I remembered him being with the Giants earlier this year, but I see that in July he signed to play in Japan.
I also learned something I either didn't know or had forgotten, that he is a first cousin of former Dodgers/Mets/etc. OFer Roger Cedeno. Today's bit of useless information.

To me he sounds like he would have made a good back up catcher. But we don't need another player who is often hurt.

I was listening to a story that mentioned that today is the 80th anniversary of the first TV broadcast of a baseball game. August 26, 1939, an experimental broadcast of a doubleheader from Ebbets Field, Reds versus Dodgers. It is estimated that about 3,000 viewers in the New York area saw it, most of them on sets put up at the World's Fair in Queens. There were only about 400 sets in the NYC metro area at the time.
The Reds won the first game, 5-2, and the Dodgers the second 6-1. To give an idea of how times have changed -- the first game was played in 1:16 and the second dragged on for 2:01. So 3:17 to play a doubleheader! And it's not like they were 1-0 games either.
There was no announcer for the first game, while the legendary Red Barber called the second game. Two cameras were used.
I'll bet it was a lot better than what we had to deal with on ESPN last night.

ESPN was reporting today’s starter as “Undecided” until sometime mid-day today. They are now saying it will be Matt Wisler. If that turns out to be true, Wisler will certainly be employed as an opener, since his longest stint this year has been 3 innings.
I’ve been busy this afternoon and also have an evening appointment. I THINK I’ll have time to do a scouting report on Milone (By the way, I would have gone with Sam Malone, rizzuto, but that’s why there are two of us on the forum)... If not, Rizzuto have you pretty good condensed version. So we expect a 27-21 Yankee victory tonight, which means we’ll probably win it 3-1...
