We will have to disagree on Happ inger. He is awful He gave up two hits in five innings. Struck out seven. That’s awful?

Happ is “awful” within the context of being one of the worst of the 150-175 best starting pitchers in the world in 2019. He’s never been one of the top 25 or so, but he’s certainly spent some time as better than say one of the top 60 or so. He still has potential to rejoin that group if he’s simply developed a mechanical glitch.
Domes Russ, we don’t really disagree. Sometimes the prism through which we see the circumstances bends the light differently. This particular game presented the interesting argument about that bad call from an ump. I didn’t see the call, but it seems the call was pretty blatantly bad.
So then the pitcher was forced to pitch to an additional hitter. It was a hitter you would hope would not do what he did, which was to hit a three run homer. The unfortunate situation for Happ is that the breaks have gone against him many times this year, and time and time again he’s made the wrong pitch at the wrong time.
It’s just a bit of misfortune that marred an otherwise terrific game for JA.
Everybody was right and everybody was wrong in that argument, and so am I...There’s plenty of room for gray in that situation. All told, Happ’s body of work this season has been poor. The real reason he’s still in the rotation is necessity, but also his track record says that perhaps he’ll get right and run hard down the stretch (like last year). He came to NY last year on a path to finish a so-so season and then went 7-0...

How bout that tier one prospect Mike Ford huh? .829 OPS!
Sorry to have missed this one. Busy week. Work and two fantasy drafts this week so I'll be missing some more games unfortunately.

Good. There should be more of these. Throwing equipment not only shows poor sportsmanship, it’s also dangerous. I can also be associated with rage connected to illicit or banned substances or social maladjustment. Players who do this more than once should be made to take counseling before returning to the active roster...

It was pretty blatant. Dropping the bat, taking off and throwing gloves etc. I don't think he intended to hit the umpire with the gloves but who knows.

I don’t recall that blatant of a behavior pattern from him at any previous point in his career. The bat-banging I believe was just trying to be a smart-ass, but was still not acceptable. The equipment tossing at least took it’s own minor toll and has hopefully been modified. Perhaps he’s mistaking what he’s doing for leadership. If he is, he’s way off base...
