I think .240 is a bit of a stretch, but yeah if he can counter adjust he certainly can hit his share of home runs especially if pitchers that come up in September don’t have fastball command and allow pitches to leak middle to inner plate. I think we can all agree that Gary’s problems are mostly- well, let’s just be charitable and say mental, so if he can ever figure out the 50% of the game that separates the haves from the wannabes the sky is the limit. That plus the motivation to revamp his commitment. Talent has never been an issue, but the landscape is littered with players like GS who coulda, woulda, shoulda.

Kimbrel blows the save in the 9th and puts the Sox down 1 and then Fernando Rodney comes in and gives everyone the full Fernando Rodney experience and gives the lead up right away. smh

I'd like to see Sanchez full time DH. If he could focus solely on hitting instead of catching... I bet he can hit .330

Maybe .300. His are not the legs of a .330 hitter, and he looks to go for the downs too often for that as well. Of course right now i’d just like to see him get up to .230...

I believe his first season.. 2016.. Was more than a hot streak but the beginning of showing how great of a hitter he could be. 2018 just wasn't his year. If you take his 2017 and take all the time he spent on catching duties and focused solely in on hitting... You'd have a BEAST on hand. I think there's a reason why we drafted so many catchers this season... Plan might be to trade for a catcher in the off season.. Work Sanchez off the position... and (obviously it's gonna take a while for new draftees especially catchers) have our newly drafted catchers eventually take over if they pan out.. But I think the overall plan is to get Gary off catcher. His bat is to valuable to risk all the injuries than can occur behind the plate. It's only a matter of time til he breaks his throwing hand the way he leaves it exposed.

Train him to play a little 3rd since he got the arm... Give him reps at 1st... But mainly bat him as DH. He's not one of those catchers that if you took him off catcher his offense would be meh... He's above average on offense no matter position. Forget this season and Sanchez... It is not Sanchez...

I think it's time to pull a Girardi and go to the pen at first sign of trouble... I liked that Boone gave the starters time to work out of it... But it's late in the season and need to start acting like each game is must win. I hated how Girardi used to act like a game in July was an elimination game... But it might be time for Boone to take a page out of Girardis binder and start showing urgency!!!

Guys, I see nothing in Sanchez that would suggest a .300 hitter unless pitchers are forced to feed him inner half fastballs for the rest of his career. He could very well be a one hit wonder unless he learns plate discipline. He will always be susceptible to glaring errors behind the plate due to his slow reactions and lethargy, and to be fair, he was never commended for his defence at any level except for his rocket of an arm. He will be given one more year to turn it around and he deserves it, but I’m not optimistic. Sure hope I’m wrong.
