Anyone hear from jwild? I used to argue with him almost as much as I do with joe. He was a really intelligent and prolific poster. Gotta respect guys that can back their POVs up even if you totally disagree with them. I haven't been in touch with him lately. Of course, I also told him about the forum, but he assumed it was going to be what it is. Open, and free with light to no moderation. He doesn't like that. He likes rules. He used to give me hell for highjacking accounts and bringing humor into discussions, especially on the paid side. Yes, he was a ton of fun, and I did enjoy the back and forths. I know that he had some things going on in his life that he felt were much more important than spending time on the internet, and I get that. Personal relationships must be nurtured. He also had a sense of humor and would inject it, so it wasn't that he was without humor at all, he just felt that there was a time and place for everything, whereas I think there is always room for jello... (: Shit. I need to e-mail the man and see how he is. For a while we were mailing back and forth pretty steadily. Once in a while I'd even get a "Jwildian lenght" post about the Yankees...Thanks for the reminder!!!

I accidentally saw part of the new “Murphy Brown” tonight. TV at it’s worst. At least she was nice to look at when she was younger. Now, her ass fills the entire 65” screen. Warning: If you do watch, use your smallest TV. At least you won’t get the sensation she might jump out and crush you...And her voice was always “sultry” when she was young. Now she sounds like a foghorn...”That’s Foghorn Leghorn, son. I said Foghorn Leghorn”...

Oh, sorry...I believe retired...but I think perhaps still active in sports psychology...Maybe he'd be referred to as semi-retired. I sorta think that may be what I am after all those years of 70+ to 100 hours weeks. I work a bit more than 1/2 of that now...So I would suppose we can define ourselves as we wish... Quite honestly, I couldn't pull jwild out of that question, though I probably should have...Duh...sometimes the brain cells that have perished are in an unfortunate position...I think I did make a new one the other day though, so hope springs eternal... "Brain cell #6 reporting in and active, sir. How can I help you today"? "Oh, I see you got a low number. You must have been one of my high draft picks. Perhaps I attained you while watching PBS"???

This really is miscellaneous but it isn’t bullshit. The remastered Beatles White Album box set is out today and I’m listening now and it is so fun. If you ever loved this record I recommend giving it a listen. If you never loved this record I honestly don’t know what to tell you. You probably have some other good qualities. Maybe.

Hey great idea GF! I'm going to get the vinyl version for my brother for Christmas. I was just looking for good vinyl records for him.

In the day, I wasn’t a huge Beatles fan. Now, I’m finding them to be a terrific “discovery”... They were an amazing phenomenon in the beginning with the bubble-gummy music that made little girls faint to the long and winding road (sorry Paul) of transition as artists.
Another amazing point is that Ruthie has a 17 year old nephew who grew up so enamored with the music that it was only about a year ago that he gave up his mop top haircut. He owns every album, and will no doubt have this remastered White Album on his Christmas wish list...The point being that music made in the 1960s and 1970s was so amazing that it not only survived, but continues to appeal to music fans some 55-60 years later.
I still remember my mother preaching to me that “her music”, which was primarily played in the 1940’s was beautiful and would live forever, but “that garbage” that was being played then would never live. That’s sort of the same bucket of crap she fed me about baseball when I was too young to control the TV set...
I still pity her for the horrible life of depression she lived. I also regret the years of depression I suffered much ofvehich was due to her influence. Very sad that she wasted so many years hating so much of her life. I loved her, but she never made it easy. Finally, at 64 I’m figuring a lot of things out. Life can be fun, and still be productive...

Love the Beatles, but worship the Stones.

Chuck, I just heard from Jwild. He says to tell you and the others hello back. He has no interest in Scout.com nor this site. He's working on some personal issues, and getting back to running like he did in the old days (albeit I would guess a bit slower). He still has some personal issues that he's tending to and enjoying and simply needs nothing else to fulfill his time and emotional state. Good for him!!!
As for the Stones...I don't know that much of their discography to be honest, mostly just a few of their biggest hits. Perhaps that will be yet another latent discovery for me...My tendencies are to enjoy vocalists over bands, and I'm not sure why. Bands do have vocalists, of course...often excellent ones...But I've usually been drawn to certain sounds that will come out of a piano...so Billy Joel was a natural fit for me...
When the group on here gets to talking about music it usually leans more toward bands.
I don't think I've ever had anyone reply when I mention Harry Chapin, for instance. I think I was drawn in more by the single "Taxi" and the later "Sequel"...but when I learned more about the man and his enormous generosity and kindness I began to listen to more of his music. Sadly, like many musicians I discovered a goodly portion of his discography post-mortem (his not mine)...
