Everyone knows you can’t bring your own food into a restaurant. Don’t know what this guy was thinking. Jester looks good though, right?

We got about 3 inches here in Central Jersey. But northern parts of Jersey were a mess. So many accidents and streets were a disaster. Had friends that had a 7 hour commute.

We got about 3 inches here in Central Jersey. But northern parts of Jersey were a mess. So many accidents and streets were a disaster. Had friends that had a 7 hour commute. That had to be a prelude to Hell for those that believe in it. I recall a 3.5 hour commute once back in the early 2000s that was more my fault than anything else. It was summer and I decided to route myself around the dreaded I-25 corridor from Denver to where I lived north of Colorado Springs..,

Dang, I hated Denver rush hour traffic...but out here where there is limited space to build roads everyone getting off the expressway creates another jam up until you’re about twenty miles out of the city..,

Went the grocery store today and they had clementines. They’re seasonal, but when they’re in season I could live off them alone. These are not to be confused with the mandarin oranges, marketed as “Halos”. These are smaller, sweeter, and marketed as “Cuties”. The only time I’ve ever got bad ones they were shipped out of South America...The ones from California and Florida are the real deal...
BTW: Did you know that oranges do not continue to ripen after they’re picked? If the peel is green, it’ll be bitter...Which is why they pack them in orange netting, so they can sneak a few in on us...

We used to have several trees when I was a boy. I could eat them all day.

I never heard of a satsuma until just this very minute. I looked them up and I see they’re one of several varieties that are classed as, or nicknamed as “mandarin oranges”. I find that sometimes when I buy mandarins they are absolutely delicious, and ptgervtimes they overly tart. I also find green oranges in the bag more often when I buy mandarins. I’ve been disappointed enough times that I usually pass on them and wait for the clementines. Perhaps now I can watch for the satsuma designation and give them a whirl.
Ruthie took the bag away from me tonight... which is okay with me, because I’ll have more to enjoy the next couple days...
I also bought some Honey Crisp apples. They’ve become my favorite apple, but the growers and therefore the grocers do over charge for them. The Wal Mart out here gets about $2.49 per pound for them. Back in the summer, our Farmers Market was selling them for $0.79 per pound. They were smaller apples and not as pretty, tending to be bruised quite a bit... but the flavor was fine...
I won’t try to start any discussion on which Pop Tarts I brought home, promise... Blasted off season...

I just paid a visit to 24/7, so I thought I’d report in on what things are like there. The free side is still dead. There was a recent thread start in which a poster posited the question of if it would be if it the Yanks to add Billy Hamilton as a bench player. No one replied.
The paid side had Patrick’s usual good work as he soldiers on, but sadly his articles only draw about the number of comments you can count on the fingers of one hand. Yeah. I still have a membership there. I think it renews soon. I may give it another year to see how it goes. Pat said he’d be posting his top 50 tonight for those of you who may still have a paid up subscription.
I’ll admit that it’s hard for me to get excited with a farm system that is no longer too-heavy, as so many of the Uber prospects at the lower levels will surely crash and burn as they always do...
