Japan Has Millions of Empty Houses. Want to Buy One for $25,000?
With a shrinking population and more than 10 million abandoned properties, the country is straining to match houses with curious buyers.

The Japanese culture is very aloof with foreigners to the point of being unwelcoming. Most will not offer to converse or even look at the "gaijin", which basically means “outside” as in not from here, or not of our culture. I don’t think it would make for a nice transition for anyone that likes to be social…

I don’t think it would make for a nice transition for anyone that likes to be social… How often have you been to Japan? I watched a documentary that was based on interviews with people that moved there and didn’t like it. I can see it being true. After all, many Americans treat them the same way… I also once knew a Japanese lady who said much of the same, which is what prompted me to watch the documentary. She actually said she was surprised how well Americans accepted her. She expected retribution. The Japanese are extremely protective of their culture as well. Look what happened when the first two American batters tied Oh’s HR season record. Tuffy Rhodes finally broke through and broke it a few years ago. Tuffy Rhodes. Any doubts if Japanese ball is equal to US ball?

You know, it was surprising to me, but my sister and a couple that lived in Hawaii said the native Hawaiians resented the whites that moved there…

Too many people in India. It’s not for me…

Rube Waddell had an interesting three year stretch among many other interesting seasons and his interesting and unusual life.
1902- Pitches the first recorded immaculate inning. 1903 - Fans 302. The first AL pitcher to pass the 300 mark in a season 1904 - Fans a record 349 batters, which is still the AL record for lefties. Sam McDowell is closest at 325 in 1965…

Roger Clemens won the AL pitching triple crown in 1997. That wax the first time that had been achieved in 45 years at the time. He is the only pitcher to win two CYA for the Blue Jays.
He cheated. Screw his records. I wish Mike Piazza had thrown the bat back at him in the World Series…

INDIA? or JAPAN? or ITALY???
Inside the Italian village being repopulated by Americans
This one I like DoMe. I've been mulling over Portugal too. Although to get further away from the world and still live pleasantly it takes someplace like Bora Bora or Huahine or even more so some island like Becqua or Eleuthera and that's only if you're really looking to shut out everything.

This one was the most intriguing option he’s come up with to date… I find South America intriguing, though the language barrier and the number of violent hot spots would give some pause. Even todays’ sleepy village could be overtaken by mercenaries without warning. As far a scenery and weather goes, I’m sure there are mountain shrouded valleys and foothills aplenty…

Sandy Koufax has no minutiae related to his statistics. We’ve pored over them countless times, particularly back in the days Jwild roamed these parts and often attempted to denigrate Koufax’ work.
No, no numbers here. At least none I can think of right away. Maybe get some insight from an expert or two on the subject. Let’s start here:
The great Ernie Banks described what it was like to face Koufax. “It was frightening. He had that tremendous fastball that would rise, and a great curveball that started at the eyes and broke to the ankles. In the end you knew you were going to be embarrassed. You were either going to strike out or foul out.”1 Banks said, “He was the greatest pitcher I ever saw. Most of the time we knew what was coming. He held his hands closer to his head when he threw a curveball, but it didn’t matter.”..
