Greenville, SC is worth spending a few days in. Downtown Main Street full of restaurants, shops and bars. Thursday and Friday from Spring to fall they cordon off a few blocks downtown and have bands and beverage trucks to go with the nearby restaurants. Speaking of Ty Cobb, according to the Shoeless Joe historian, Jackson, in his first full season, hit .408, but got beat out for the batting title by Cobb who hit .420 something.

Hope you have great time on your trip, pipps. I cracked open a bottle of Old Forester last night in your honor. Bless you Matt. It's an honor to facilitate the opening of a brand new bottle of bourbon. To your health! He opened for you. I only ask that he take a random swig for HeAmyHa..

I’m listening to this collection of 60’s music on YOU TUBE that’s supposed to be all one hit wonders. Nice throwback, but they just played “Suspicions” by a guy named Elvis Presley… Not quite sure he fits the one hit wonder category…

It's true that Elvis did the original version of "Suspicion" although as far as I know it was only an album cut. The hit version from the spring of 1964 was by a guy named Terry Stafford, who did indeed sound a bit like Elvis (as did a singer named Ral Donner, who had a few modest hits in the early 60s and was a blatant Elvis copycat.) Some oldies stations do play the Elvis version because the DJs and Program Directors are too young to remember who had the hit. But actually Terry Stafford did have another hit, albeit only on the country charts, in 1973 with "Amarillo By Morning." So your point still stands Inger -- not a one-hit wonder. A no-doubt about it one-hit wonder from that same year of 1964 were Washington DC's Chartbusters whose sole contribution to our musical pleasure was "She's The One," a nice rocking song in its day. Supposedly those guys were the template for the fictional band The Oneders in the fun Tom Hanks film "That Thing You Do " I'm not sure that is true, but if it’s not it should be.

There was something “off” sounding to me, so I’ll bet it was Terry Stafford. Thanks, Pipps. You two travel well. I look forward to your return!…

Only version of Amarillo By Morning that I'm familiar with is the George Strait version. Happy Trails to you!

I had no idea “Amarillo by Morning” was from 1973. Your musical knowledge is quite extraordinary, Pipps. Enjoy your sojourn! Say hello to Mrs. Pipps!

It’s not quite Switzerland like Pipps, but we’re on a day trip. Went to the extreme southern portion of Colorado, very deserted and filthy with deer, cross a mountain pass at about 10,500 feet before crossing into New Mexico. The ground was snow covered at the top, but the roads were clear.
Grabbing (another) burger in Chama, New Mexico, just under 8,000 ft. Elevation. Beautiful sunshine, 66 degrees.
We’re going to make a circle of it, crossing another pass on NM 64 before heading north again and back home. Probably home around 3:30-4:30. Just in time for today’s Oriole feather-plucking 🪶… (although I may fall asleep during this one if we get too far ahead)… went to bed at 1:30 AM, up at 5:30…
My doctor wants me to stop taking Ambien. I tried taking only about 70% of the 5 MG dose last night and I had to get back up and take the rest of the pill. I’m an addict…

Gloria and I will do that around Vermont on occasion. She loves to explore new places while my mind is mostly one where to eat. Have a safe trip back.

In fact, she’s usually quite disoriented and doesn’t remember where we’ve been unless I feed her some details about the trip. Like what she ate and where the restaurant was… 🤓 She’s enjoyed seeing the deer today 🦌…
