What are the projections for Volpe?
So .208/.284/.358 with 14 HR and 27 SBs. Pretty low projections. I think he's going to beat that by a long shot.
Jeez. I thought the Marcels sucked until I saw these… I’m going to throw some numbers out: .235/22 HR, 35 SB… No mathematical formula, no insider information. Just watching baseball for some 60+ years and applying the numbers to todays low-batting average culture. That said, I’m hoping for .265/22 with 45 SB, but given the starting point, have to go with the lower set of numbers to appear not to be too much of a homer…

Great Question. While we wait for Kaybli’s answer, the Marcel Projections on Baseball Reference say: .229 .305 .410 .715 With 18 HR and 19/4 stealing. Oddly, they’re only projecting him to get 501 PA. That seems to me to be about 100 too low… It would be nice to know other projections from other sites. I find the Marcel’s to normally be rather conservative… Yeah, why so low? Volpe had 541 at bats last season and 601 plate appearances. I also expect him to have more, not fewer steals if he increases his BA and OBP from last season. His home runs could go down by a couple if he focuses more on contact and putting the ball in play. In order to present lower numbers that are tied to less playing time it would seem the projector would either have to have a probability chart showing expectation of injury or some competition for his job that we don’t see coming. Has AI advanced that far yet? … I think not…

And last i saw the yankees dont encourage base stealing often enough for him to steal 35 but i do think he can be a 20/20 player .

So this projector sees Volpe as producing right about where he did last year. I am hoping that someone tells this kid that he should not fall in love with the HR. Become a hitter, not a basher. I couldn't care less if he hits less than 5 HRs, if he can raise his average from .209 to .250 and his OBP from .283 to .350. I believe if he doesn't swing for the seats both of these numbers are attainable.

Ugh, that would be a big disappointment.

I like that he accurately referred to IKF as a "punching bag".

I overheard a phone call the other night between Ruthie and her older sister. The sister had ordered some of that Lume Deodorant online. I also heard a call today where she told Ruthie it’s a waste of money, didn’t help at all.
Beyond that, I’m sure not asking ANY questions…🤓

I’m a bit late with this one, but Dave Dravecky turned 68 years old on Valentine’s Day. What a sad story he was in the early eighties. It’s good to know that he survived his cancer and is living out a long life…

Ruthie’s brother Arlie, who passed away last month has finally been cremated. He was kept on ice for about a month in a weird bureaucratic kerfluffle that was caused by a doctor reluctant to sign off the he was dead.
We weren’t involved in the family discussions, but Arlie’s sister in law, who seems to screw up anything she touches and wants to be involved in everything claimed she was calling every second day to reach the doctor, who was always tied up at the moment but would call her back and never did.
Can anyone guess what she does for a living? She works for the state as a social worker. I don’t live in her state but if I did I woukd have to request someone else.
So, finally thawed and cremated, RIP, Arlie Cooper.
Her family is so bizarre. The day her father met her mother, 16 years old at the time, he was 33.,She was swinging on a vine in the woods outside Pittsburgh, PA. He told her to come along with him, and he’d marry her. So… she did. He was only in town because he was singing with a band…
