I have a couple different driving modes in my car. One is economy and another is sport. How come when I switch between modes the vehicle range estimate doesn't change? I feel pippsheadache would have an answer for you. I'm no mechanic, and I only know how it applies to a BMW. The economy mode lessens acceleration, so you are using less energy and therefore fuel but throwing in the towel if you are drag-racing from the traffic light. It also limits energy-intensive functions like climate control. Sport mode is set to maximize acceleration and improve shift response. Supposedly you get 15-25 percent more fuel efficiency in economy. But I know a lot of people who say those range estimates vary widely depending on driving conditions. It may just be that the sensor measuring range estimate doesn't really kick in until you've driven in that mode for awhile. Or maybe it's defective. So that's a long way of saying "I don't know." Since I drive my car strictly for fun (my wife has the sensible car for longer trips) I just let everything rip. If I paid attention to MPG, I wouldn't be driving a 2001 BMW 325Ci convertible. And we've been having great top-down weather lately!

Poor Pipps. We rely on him to know everything… Well that is a serious mistake!

Poor Pipps. We rely on him to know everything… Well that is a serious mistake! I don’t make mistakes often, but when I do, they’re serious…

Well that is a serious mistake! I don’t make mistakes often, but when I do, they’re serious… That's the spirit, Inger. Go big or go home!

I didn't make the connection until yo mentioned it in this post. I was under the impression sport mode changed the suspension.

I finally got my test results back yesterday, and as far as I can tell, there has been no change since my last scan. No new tumors and the ground glass nodules I already have aren't any larger. I won't know for sure until I talk to my Oncologist on Weds. Thanks, everyone for your support.

Seems like you've been getting a lot of that lately. I'm so happy for you and can only imagine what a relief it must be. Rizz lifted an Old Fashioned in your honor; I explained the situation to my wife and we hoisted Daiquiris to your health. That should clinch the deal!

(Bulleit rye, my new favorite) 😎 Hey Rizz -- always glad to see the quintessentialy American spirit Rye being touted. It's comeback over the last 20 or so years has been a bright spot for those of us who cherish the history of well-tempered cocktails. Although I lean toward Bourbon for Old Fashioneds and Rye for Manhattans, there is much to be said for either. One of the greatest of Rye drinks is the New Orleans-based Sazerac, with which I am sure you are familiar. Bulleit makes a lot of good products. Other good Ryes are Michter's, Rittenhouse and one from Desousa's neck of the woods in Vermont, Whistle Pig. If you ever want to taste 100 percent pure Rye, try Canada's Lot 40. It will get your attention.
