I'm visiting a friend from Tuesday to Thursday and will unfortunately miss the whole Angels series. Anthony will take care of the HR pics where he can and hopefully we'll have people to start the game threads. Let's go Yankees!

GOLF UPDATE Ahead of schedule for return to play.
I went to the range yesterday, only to find the course incredibly busy. They were out of range balls. I went home and tried to hit a few balls off the sandy soil with no success, like horrible little shanks and flubs. I told Ruthie that I either had to get a lesson or forget about a return to the course.
Then, this afternoon I went back to the range and decided to tee a few balls up before I attempted to hit anything off the turf. My distances were short (surprise!) but I could successfully strike the ball. Once I experienced some sucess, I was able to hit off the ground and lift the ball.
After that I returned to my woods and long irons and was able to turn a bit more, find a bit of rhythm and add a few yards, though still much shorter than my previous distances. I plan to hit one more time, and if all stays the same after that, I’ll get on the course, likely testing my game first from the senior tee boxes with hope of dropppng back to the “duffers” tees after a few rounds.
There’s a fair number of water holes, so I’ll be interested to test myself on those.
Example of distance: I used to hit my 9 iron to about 145. I think I got about 130 out of it.
My driver used to be 275 and beyond. I didn’t reach 250, more like 230 likely on my best drive.Thise are playable distances with the greater concern being consistency…and the ever present concern of how the old body holds up…

Just a thought. The White Sox, the stoppable force of baseball, beat the moveable object (A’s) at last, ending their losing streak and proving to the world that nobody, NOBODY, beats them 22 straight times…
During the losing streak, Ella de la Cruz stole 13 bases for the Reds…

The law of averages was about to catch up sooner or later.

What kind of Yankees hats does everyone here wear?
Me personally, I mostly wear an old school on-field 1995-2006 Navy Cooperstown AC New Era 59Fifty Fitted cap with a grey brim and no New Era logo on the side that I got from HatHeaven.com.
I wear and got it because this is the kind of cap that the dynasty teams from 1996-2001 wore and I just naturally like this style of cap the best.

Slight golf set back.
Since the last hitting session featured more complete swings and more complete turns than in the past, despite applying lidocaine, taking aspirin, etc. I’m very stiff. Back, neck, calf muscle, hamstring, all pretty stiff and sore.
As it happens, the local course is hosting a 4-day tournament tomorrow, anyway.
For now the plan is to hit on Monday afternoon. The temps should be nice and warm, but not hot.
Best case scenario is 9 holes of course time on Thursday. As I always say, we’ll see.
Thanks to my escaping dog, I’ll be receiving a load of 40 12”x12” and 26 16”x16” pavers tomorrow, about ½ of which I’m going to install next to our privacy fence, with an extra row so I can make passage to my tool shed. So, I anticipate some regular soreness as I install what ever it is I’m going to build to keep her in. I got tired of fixing holes under the fence with crude concrete…

Bocce update. My team, You Blew It (don't ask) at 7-4 is currently in sole possession of 4th place in a 16 team league. Top 6 teams make the season end tournament. We play the first place team tonight. They are 9-3 and are really tough. We came close to beating them last season, but I missed my final shot. The Assassin will have to be on his game tonight.
The past two weekends, Gloria and I played in a couple of tournaments. First we entered into the Open Doubles Tournament and we came in 4th out of 10 teams.
Last weekend we played in the Open Singles Tournament. Gloria was eliminated in the 3rd round, but I made the top 8 out of 34 teams. I had to play the same guy 3 times and was exhausted by the final game.

I always believe in being conservatively aggressive. I’ll follow with this week’s golf update: Rain and electric storms have limited my activity this week to ten pitching wedges hit in my back yard. Two were perfect, though in my opinion still short of my distance capacity, but right on target. Four were struck hard, but pulled about 20 yards left. One was right and probably ten yards right of target and bit short. Off the toe…One was hit thin and to the right where it struck a fence and nearly rebounded back to me. I struck a fatty that only got about 50/60 yards of carry. The tenth was hoseled… yuck. Hard and left, about 4 inches high and a potential OB. So that’s ten, but I must confess. There was an 11th swing… and miss. I’m going to attempt to get a bucket of balls the week yet. If I do, I’ll tattle on all my errors. I still believe a lesson would help… just a basic “fix my swing lesson”…

Update. Bad range. Lesson will be scheduled as soon as the assistant pro returns my call. The lesson will be do or die. If it doesn’t help, I’m done…
