We need this broadcast on Streameast or KSPN (Kaybli Sports Network)! Inger can sell plain well-done hotdogs with no condiments. Pipps can bartend, and I’ll whisper announcements from the field of play like they do on The Masters. I've put some thought on creating a drink to commemorate such an august occasion (although it could take place in July or September also.) Burlington if I recall has its share of craft breweries, and there are in fact cocktails on the books that incorporate beer, although I haven't tried them. For example, there is the Lagerita, which is a Margarita to which Modelo Especial has been added. There is also the Bodega Dog, which combines two ounces of Gin and four ounces of Beer in a glass rimmed with Tajin Classico spice. My thought was to do a variation on this, using a Burlington-brewed beer and Vermont's honored Barr Hill Gin. To this I add maybe a quarter ounce of Maple liqueur to acknowledge Vermont's maple syrup industry and in a nod to the Portuguese ancestry of Matt's better half, just a dash of Ruby Port. Garnish with speared Luxardo cherries, representing bocce balls. I propose to call this elixir The Pallino, which bocce enthusiasts will instantly recognize. If it doesn't work as a cocktail, it should do well as an all-purpose emetic. I concur on Inger cooking up the well-done condiment-free hot dogs. No boiling or steaming, just some fried, burnt to a crisp store-brand wieners served on New England-style buns, which as near as I can tell are pretty much Wonder Bread sliced to hold the dogs. Azbob clearly has the director's instinct and should be our Roone Arledge or Chet Forte or one of those guys. Rizz has the appropriate gravitas to whisper from the sidelines repeatedly about Burlington Bocce being a tradition unlike any other, and also to interview the CEO of whatever Bocce Ball manufacturer is sponsoring this event. People would come from as far away as Winooski and St. Alban's for such an extravaganza, I'm sure of it.

Children will one day be able to tell their children that they saw “The Assassin” in his extended prime. They’ll relate how he was such a humble man, “Just call me, Matt, children.” How he offered bocce tips for free, signed duplicates of his game hats and handed them out for free, advising the kids to keep them because when he gets elected to the bocce HOF they’ll be worth something…
Forty years later at a pawn shop:
“Look, I get ya’ buddy, but he handed out thousands of these. He always told the same story. Gave me about six of them. They’re out in the warehouse. You want to add to my collection, I can give you buck for one. Like Matt said, kid. It’s worth something. By the way, the building next door is mine. I’m gonna open the bocce Hall of fame in there. The Assassin is going in first. Gonna sell the hats in there, so I’ll give you a tip. Those hats might double in value. Might wanna hold on to it.”…

I love this site. Let's see what ChatGPT thinks:
In the quiet hills of Vermont's green land, Lived a man named DeSousa, with bocce in hand. They called him "The Assassin" on the bocce court, With a fierce reputation, the competitive sort.
But once on a stage with bright lights and flair, He sat in the hot seat, playing "Millionaire." The questions rolled by, his confidence high, Till Joseph Meister's tale made his fortune run dry.
He pondered and thought, but the answer eluded, And with one wrong guess, his dreams were diluted. No riches that night, just a tale to retell, Of a game show mishap where his fortunes fell.
Once a bartender, serving baseball’s greats, He’d mix up their drinks, and chat about fates. From sliders to sliders, he knew every pitch, But that question on Meister—ah, life’s little glitch.
Back in Vermont, where the mountains are tall, He’s still the "Assassin," but not on a call. With bocce in hand, he rules every game, But in trivia’s realm, he’s known by another name.

Godzilla still hitting home runs. I hear he’s still watching film, too. It’s seldom of himself, though…

I'm going to visit a friend in NYC until Thursday night. I'll still check the board from time to time but my activity will probably be low. I scheduled this trip around the Yankee playoffs to make sure I didn't miss any games!
I'll be back well in time for ALDS Game 1 on Saturday when I'll be locked, loaded, and ready to go for some playoff Yankee baseball!
