1. DJ LeMahieu (R) 1B 2. Aaron Judge (R) RF 3. Brett Gardner (L) CF 4. Edwin Encarnacion (R) DH 5. Giancarlo Stanton (R) LF 6. Gleyber Torres (R) 2B 7. Gary Sanchez (R) C 8. Didi Gregorius (L) SS 9. Gio Urshela (R) 3B Trusting Edwin a lot hitting in front of Stanton! At this point, either he is healthy or not. But, you don’t want to walk him to get to Stanton. At least, Gregorius is not hitting third.

Yea but he came back in September. Did he get hurt again after that? I don't think so.

Batting him third would be unwise at this point. I'm still counting on Didi for some more clutch moments this October though!

1. DJ LeMahieu (R) 1B 2. Aaron Judge (R) RF 3. Brett Gardner (L) CF 4. Edwin Encarnacion (R) DH 5. Giancarlo Stanton (R) LF 6. Gleyber Torres (R) 2B 7. Gary Sanchez (R) C 8. Didi Gregorius (L) SS 9. Gio Urshela (R) 3B
vs
1. Mitch Garver (R) C 2. Jorge Polanco (S) SS 3. Nelson Cruz (R) DH 4. Eddie Rosario (L) RF 5. Miguel Sano (R) 3B 6. Max Kepler (L) CF 7. Marwin Gonzalez (S) LF 8. C.J. Cron (R) 1B 9. Luis Arraez (L) 2B
Position by position: 1B: Both offensively and defensively, I take DJ over CJ. Neither is a defensive standout at the position. I’ll take the overall offense of DJ vs. the slugging type of CJ. 2B: Very diverse offensively, and as much as I hate to say it, I like the pesky Arraez. He’s no match for Torres power, though. Neither has outstanding range nor hands, though both are max effort defensively. Defense slightly in favor of Torres. SS: About even offensively, both with near average range. Didi with far superior hands to the somewhat error prone Polanco and Didi has a much stronger and surer arm. 3B: Once again, I’ll take the better pure hitter over the pure power of Sano. There is no need to discuss the defensive difference here. Urshela. LF: Stanton vs. Gonzalez is Moose vs. Mouse with the bat, and Stanton has a minimal edge with the glove. CF: Max Kepler must use slightly below average fielding skills in CF due to the injury to Buxton. Gardner still can run the ball down in CF with the aplomb of youth, and is probably still in the second echelon among CF. The bat goes to Kepler. Lots of pure power. RF: Judge vs. Rosario. With Judge combining over all hitting skills with huge power this matchup will go to Judge with the lumber. Rosario is playing RF because his arm is stronger than Gonzalez’ arm. Judge is a highly skilled RF. C: Sanchez has much better throwing skills and is a better blocker of and handler of pitchers. Both have lethal HR bats, and I have to say that Sanchez’s inconsistency with the bat is disturbing enough that I’ll give the offense to the Twins. Slightly... Starting Pitching : I must take the hot hand of Paxton over the mediocre recent pitching of Berrios. The season stats are close between the two, but we’re looking at what is likely to happen tonight. I do have some concern about that nasty slash the Twins have vs. LHP, but the Twins must concern themselves with Paxton’s nasty slash vs. LHH and RHH. Bullpen: Nice edge to the Yankees. Ballpark: Yankee Stadium, big advantage for game one...

I guess I should have included the DH’s. I really started that post to demonstrate the defensive differences.
I must choose the ancient Cruz, though the continuation of his power along with a .300 average is... it feels abnormal. I hope it’s not...

I said I like the kid, but took Torres easily (as in no match) and also gave Torres the nod with the glove. Arraez has played more third than second in MLB, btw....

I believe they want to shelve Montgomery until next season. His was a serious injury and surgery. Extra time to heal. It is what I expected. Tarpley then? I know he's not a lefty, but I thought Heller looked good in September, certainly better than Lyons or Tarpley.

This is a little strange but better late than never. Almost fully operational death star! Let's do this! Get at least two touchdowns early and then make sure not to play too conservatively. I’d like to see us up by 21 at halftime...
