Not that I want him starting at SS, but I believe Tyler Wade to be our best defensive infielder. In time, I think he’ll be very good in the OF, too. Get that bat going, Tyler... I agree. I would go with Wade/Estrada at SS and invest the budget elsewhere (starting pitching). And leave Gleyber at 2B. Interesting combination. I still see Wade as a high ceiling/ low floor guy. I see Estrada as a high floor/low ceiling player...

That’s good news. He showed he had a lot in the tank still last season and he is a strong leader in the clubhouse.

And then after that, with Hicks out for at least half of 2021, at least 2/3 of 2022, and a quarter of 2023. Following that Hicks will go on the Ellsbury List and we will need a full time replacement...

If I personally ever get my own muse, I hope it’s a female. I’d hate to have to introduce some guy as my muse...

Now, back to Gardner. Sort of. Now we have to wonder about the baseball. It likely had at least something to do with Gardner hitting a career high in HR. It has to have something to do with Urshela’s big year. And probably that of Torres, too. Everyone, actually. DJ? I had predicted we could see him reach 20+ HR for the first time in YS even before we knew they were going to the new Max-Flite baseball. Anyway... all teams will be affected if we revert to the former Gutta-Percha balls. My suspicions will be more focused on players with shorter track records, the Fords, Tauchmans (Tauchmen?), and Urshelas of the world...

I would hope they bring back Gardner and Tauchman. Tauchman shouldn't require much money to re-sign and he was great when he was with the Yankees. I give Cashman credit for having the foresight to acquire Tauchman early last year. Without him our outfield depth would have been non-existent, given Stanton's absence. Will be interesting to see what happens with Maybin as well although I figure one of these will be odd man out. We still have Wade as well who played some outfield. I guess you can count Frazier as outfield depth as well, although apparently the Yankees's don't. There will be another roster crunch coming. Prospects that we have held on to might have to be traded. Interesting times ahead.

Tauchman is pre arbitration and under contract so he’s on the team unless they decide to use an option year to have him at SWB. Given how he played, especially defensively where he was their best OF, I can’t see a scenario where he’s not on the team. Unless they decide to trade him which would be surprising.
