I think the only question on the Yankees, other than injuries, is pitching. I don't see any obvious need to improve anything else (we won't have a lot of gold gloves , but we will be solid there and improving that would hurt hitting and would be difficult). Not sure what you can do to avoid injuries. Wear body armor maybe. Hopefully the new S&C Coach. Funny though, they originally hired Krause because of the injuries... they hoped he could STOP them... and then 2019 happened. Maybe they should look more on the trainers than the S&C... Maybe Mr. Donahue should retire... I doubt either are to blame for the injuries. And I haven’t seen the team say he’s being blamed for it. But it is entirely possible that this is about what they specifically do want in the role more than what they don’t want in him. They didn’t fire Rothschild because he sucks they fired him because they wanted something specifically different. Could very well be the same for him. Happens every day in the real world.

First duty of new S & C coach is to stand by judge while he bats and deflect baseballs from hitting him in the wrist. Must also invent a new shoe that will not allow ankles to turn and a stool for catchers to squat on that will prevent groin pulls... If anything we may like to see more conditioning and a bit less massive strength...I can see Voit’s core injury perhaps more related to animalistic attacks on tractor tires than a controlled swing at a baseball.. Same with Stanton who has been recorded trying to kill tractor tires as well...

Dodgers about to bail out Boston again. This time they’ll at least get someone who can really play even if they have to take on Price. Betts would be a pretty serious add to that lineup.

It’s fun to do something different and if you’re a regular person who isn’t paid to be in excellent physical condition, it sort of makes sense - make the workout more interesting for people who otherwise might not show up to exercise. For a professional athlete, the tire and sledgehammer things seem like really odd choices to me.

It’s been a little while since the old hot stove had a decent sized log tossed in. This one, along with that kindling tossed in about Mookie Betts to the Dodgers has a pretty good blaze going today. The stove is not cherry red like it was when the Yanks signed Cole, but it’s warm enough to keep my interest... Wonder how long Cashman will wait to toss J. A. Happ on the fire? He won’t make too much heat, but he might do for a spring evening when all you need is a small fire before you go to bed in the evening, or when you just get up in the morning. I’m thinking Happ will be here until at least mid-March, when we get an idea of how many health bodies we have for rotation. Healthy bodies that are throwing well. I don’t think Happ is done. He’s the type of pitcher that can extend into his forties. Those accidentally super-charged baseballs were hurtful to him in 2019...

Personally I would keep Happ and think we will need him unless they are confident Montgomery is ready to throw 200 IP.

I’d like to see the Yankees take a chance on one of these wild card guys for a change, especially if the agreement allowed us to start the player in AAA during an appropriate adjustment period... There should be more two way players in MLB, and this guy has performed well in Japan, which is about as AAA as you can get by comparison...
Cashman, have a Cola! Go get us a toy!!!

Our old buddy, Starling Castro has signed with the Nats. Thanks for the update, Chi. We're much better off at second base now than when Starlin was there, but he seemed like a solid guy and I wish him well. It's easy to feel some attachment to the vast majority of players who pass through the system. I like that about the game.

Our old buddy, Starling Castro has signed with the Nats. He's breaking up the old Yankees reunion tour in Miami! Last year they had Castro, Neil Walker, Granderson, Martin Prado, and Garrett Cooper!

Garrett Cooper. Utah always called him “that tall boy” or something to that effect and wished we had kept him. He’s not a bad player. Of course, if Utah ever stood beside him, he might call him “that short boy”... Pretty sure I saw the spirits of MrG and Utah flew past me the other day while they were talking baseball...
