What would happen in the happenstance of trading J.A. Happ for Ian Happ? Would that make us happy? Happiness can be so elusive... Hmmm

I was looking for, it would be a Happ-Happ-happy day... (: I’d like to keep Britton, to be honest...He May be our closer before the year is out. I keep waiting for the implosion of Chapman...Last post season, seeing him so fearful of throwing his fastball over the plate or coming inside to the hitters was disturbing...

relievers are not consistent over time and can be great one year and awful the next - or just gone. I would be cautious about trading an elite prospect for one.

Slow days on the hot stove. Saw this on Twitter. I had to look him up. He hit 58 doubles and 27 home runs last year. Holy crap! MLB Marathon @mlbmarathon · 2h Sources say #Yankees "doing legitimate homework" on Nick Castellanos. #MLB www.baseball-reference.com/players/c/casteni01.shtml

Not sure where he would play though.

We have plenty of DH’s.

Same source. Where are they going to play? I see them getting pitching or back up infielder, but another big bat.
MLB Marathon @mlbmarathon · 3h #Yankees seem to have their hands in everything. Not only are they in on Hader and Castellanos, they have had ongoing discussions with #Cubs regarding slugger Kyle Schwarber. Lefty power would definitely play at Yankee Stadium. 38 HR 92 RBI .871 OPS in 2019. #MLB

Voit has done well, but if the preference is to add a lefty bat, we need to get rid of a righty bat. Would the Cubs do that? Maybe for the salary relief, or if they were also getting a prospect or two back. Plus, it’s smart to be “in on” what’s going on. It doesn’t mean a deal would actually come to fruition...Castellanos is a failed 3B who has been getting hidden in RF, for instance. He’s a right handed batter. There’s no real fit here, it’s not like he’s pushing Judge out of town. Yet talk is cheap. He’s really a DH...

He's got a bad rep in LF. And, given that he came up as a catcher and doesn't catch, I imagine he's pretty bad there, too (and couldn't be counted on as a backup). As for Voit, I don't get why the Cubs would want him. They've got Rizzo. As for Castellanos, I just can't see a fit. I assume the source of these rumors is somebody's ass.

I would imagine reporters get pretty desperate waiting for real news. I have to confess, I had a mental slip and was thinking Schwarber could play 1B, albeit poorly, which actually placed my medulla obs into my rectal cavity as well. It’s dark in here. The Yankees are hard to fix. There is little wrong with a team that has so many wins, yet there are faults. Extra bats that don’t play well in the field or need to be protected from injury prone bodies. Too many of the hitters are right-handed. Players that most teams would love to have will be relegated to role play. A loaded bullpen is being treated like a weakness as we seek ever more depth there. Anyway, stories have to be written. They don’t need to be true. They just need to be based on a hint of reality to throw on the fire to keep the hot stove warm enough to sit around. Sometimes that’s just warm enough that we can call bullshit on them...

Cashman has said repeatedly he kicks the tires on everything to see what the market is whether he’s likely to act on it or not. So I believe they have tried to understand the what the cost is for Schwarber whether or not he’s actively looking to deal for him. That’s how we landed Edwin Encarnacion and he ended up being quite useful to us and just as useful to us he wasn’t somewhere else. I would guess there’s not more to this than that.

I think the only question on the Yankees, other than injuries, is pitching. I don't see any obvious need to improve anything else (we won't have a lot of gold gloves , but we will be solid there and improving that would hurt hitting and would be difficult). Not sure what you can do to avoid injuries. Wear body armor maybe.

Funny though, they originally hired Krause because of the injuries... they hoped he could STOP them... and then 2019 happened. Maybe they should look more on the trainers than the S&C... Maybe Mr. Donahue should retire...

One of the best... Cashman definitely scapegoated him...
