Don't forget Greg Bird and Ellsbury are still under contract. Thanks. Had forgotten about Ellsbury. Look forward to his eventual recovery and return.

He can be our 7th outfielder next year if he reports to Spring Training!

Ellsbury returns next season, wins the batting title, plays flawlessly in the outfield, joins the 40-40 club, and leads the Yankees to a World Series title. Do you resign him?

I would thank him for his comeback, celebrate his World Series MVP Award, and wish him good luck in free agency. No way would I resign him, even with the fairytale season.

I'd give him the Gardner one year deal. That way it wouldn't hurt much when he inevitable misses the next season with a hang nail.

I guess its possible he could show up as some point, even Pavano did show up late in the season in his last year of his contract after missing practically the two years before.

I think I can say with certainty... that didn’t sound very certain... I will solemnly aver that there is simply no way that Mr. Ellsbury still has enough baseball talent to perform with positive results on a MLB baseball field.
How is it even remotely possible after all of the missed reps? The timing involved in batting alone would seem to be impossible to regain. Then you have the loss of foot speed that simply has to have occurred. The reflexes lost. The ability to read the ball off the bat.
As a baseball player, he’s no longer young. If he had stayed healthy all this time, his skills would have eroded to a point that he likely would have already become a below average player. Without the day to day exposure to his usual routine, both for training and practice, those skills have to have reduced to the point that he’d be lucky to be a regular player in the low minors or an Indy League team...

Yeah, but he’s well rested...

Yeah, but he’s well rested... I wonder what he’s done with his time? One would think that if he was too injured to work, he couldn’t participate in any kind of sporting endeavor. No golf, basketball, etc. anyway. Hiking? That seems feasible. Swimming? Yes. Stamp or coin collecting. Model train building? Home remodeling? A young man with idle hands just seems so illogical to me. If he has kids, he’s been blessed to have time with them and his lady. Yet, it just seems odd for an athlete to just be sitting around, being dad. He should write a book... See? There WAS a reason for those “How I Spent My Summer Vacation” essays in elementary school... Maybe the Yankees insurance company should have been following him around...

I always confuse Damon and Ellsbury... I was thinking about Damon's wife and was gonna post "he's probably screwing his hot wife.." but that's Damon.. I don't know what Ells wife looks like... but I imagine not as good as Damon's
