Lots of Arenado/Yankees chatter on Twitter. Hard to imagine but that would be something else. I would have to think we would need to include Garcia plus at least one more power arm and someone like Florial plus at least one more promising position player. That seems like minimum.

Bryant would just be a two year rental for Colorado, so a package loaded with young, talented players that are cost controlled for years, like what the Yankees could offer up, would make better sense for the Rockies. Still, do the Yankees really want to add this much salary to the payroll?

Cubs are rumored to be offering Kris Bryant though so there's definitely competition. Arenado is a game changer, as his defense is stellar, but I just cannot envision that happening with Stanton’s contract on the books, unless the Yankees take a page from the Florida Marlins: win a championship, then have a fire sale. If not, hypothetically, Urshela would have to be part of that deal as well, if I was Colorado. Replace the defense at third with Gio, another bat in Andujar, a starting pitcher like Montgomery, a versatile reliever like Luis Castillo (who was really good in the playoffs), plus the prospects. That’s a lot of inexpensive but useable pieces for a bonafide star who wants out of the Rockies organization. Granted, Andujar and Montgomery are returning from injury, but both are major league tested, young, and still not arbitration eligible.

I think you’re pretty close on the talent that would need to be exchanged IF a deal were to be cobbled together. I also think this is more writer’s imagination than reality, brought on by a too-quiet baseball news-front of late. I read an article a few days back where Brendan Kuty was speculating as to whether or not the Yankees should go after Fernando Rodney that he at least made plain was his own speculation. We gotta write something man...

Why? Why, oh why must every great opportunity involve yet another right-handed bat?...

I'm a believer in Andujar as well... but ARENADO!?!?!?! Don't get better than that at the hot corner... plus 35-40 bombs w/ 40 doubles... 300 average 360-370 OBP... He plays @ Coors.. so home/road splits... DUN DUN DUN
.265 .323 .476 on the road
.324 .380 .615 at home...
IDK... He's def. a better player at Coors... by A LOT... Elite at home... kind of average on the road...

Elite at home... kind of average on the road... Last off season we heard a lot about the home/road splits of DJLM, too. Not to completely poo-poo the stat, but we must consider first: On the whole the average MLB player is about 7% better statistically at home. Add in the fact that as a Rockie, Arenado does not get to pad his road stats by playing at Coors. Talent is talent and will find a way. I believe Arenado to be a case of a player with exceptional talent. His stats will likely be lesser at Yankee Stadium simply because Yankee Stadium tends to suppress batting average, doubles, and triples. Yankee Stadium also tends to encourage HR for batters who hit to the right side of center field, while Coors field tends to encourage BA, doubles, and triples while suppressing HR to a degree. He’d be good in Yankee Stadium, but less likely to lead the league in doubles. Perhaps he’d be more likely to raise his HR total if his hitting style will allow him to shoot the ball to right like DJLM and Aaron Judge do... It would interesting to see what he could do, but I’m personally satisfied with third manned as it is in NY and keeping the players we’d have to give up...

According to Andy McCullough of The Athletic, the Dodgers front office "remains engaged with Boston" about a Mookie Betts trade.McCullough further adds that the "dialogue with Boston has approached a resolution" in recent days. It's unclear what names are being discussed -- the Dodgers are known to be reluctant to part with top prospects Gavin Lux and Dustin May -- but the financial resources are there and Los Angeles could potentially take on both the $27 million that Betts is owed in 2020 and the $96 million that David Price is due between 2020-2022.
Don't bail the Red Sox out again, Dodgers!
