Last Friday, Mike Francesa stated ad nauseum that stealing signs does not make a difference overall. He cited that some players have told him they never wanted to know the signs, and Mo Rivera only threw one pitch. See, Houston could have saved themselves lots of trouble. Heck, no reason to even hide signs. No more cross ups. Just have the pitcher yell to the catcher what he’s throwing. All this fuss for nothing... It's amazing that so many New Yorkers still listen to Francesa even though he can't even figure out the advantage a batter would have knowing if a fastball or off speed pitch is coming.

It's amazing that he actually had enough listeners for them to rehire him

Kevin Goldstein sent the email in question, reports Jeff Passan of ESPN. Goldstein, a special assistant to Astros’ GM Jeff Lunhow, joined the organization as a pro scouting coordinator in 2012, following stints writing for Baseball Prospectus, ESPN, and Baseball America, among other outlets. Goldstein did not respond to Passan’s request for comment.

I saw someone suggest that part of the punishment should be the Astros can't sign any free agents... I like this as PART of the punishment..

There’s a lot of stupid out there.

Somehow I doubt that will be the last question he’ll answer regarding the subject of pitch stealing... Even though he put his name and his face out there to say so...

Oh they BETTER take the draft picks , since when the Red Sox got caught, they said, "next time someone gets caught, we're taking the draft picks"

It's amazing that he actually had enough listeners for them to rehire him From what I read, Francesa's ratings have tanked since his return and he is getting killed in the Arbitrons by Michael Kay on whatever the ESPN station is in New York. Supposedly starting in January his time slot on WFAN will be greatly reduced and he will be involved with some streaming business.

He should take the high road and retire Again He was just high when he decided to come back on the air.... actually, I don't blame him. Company wants to pay me tons of money to talk all day , sign me up. The radio station is the delusional one in this situation... BUT then again... his CRAP got better ratings than the CRAP they replaced him with.. so I guess the listeners are the delusional ones???? I wonder how much of it is the whole car accident effect... People only tune in because they can't help themselves but to, in this case, listen. Or maybe it's like when something gets you riled up but you keep coming back for me.. like "I'm gonna tune in just to see what this moron has to say.." I honestly have no idea, but I'm guessing radio is going the way of the newspaper??? Everyone has smartphones and iPods... they can put on a podcast while they're sitting in traffic or tell their phone what song they want to listen to... don't have to listen to what some asshole DJ puts on... so.. yeah, radio is a dying medium I would suppose... so I imagine it's mostly senior citizens still tuning in to catch Fransecsa.(sp)... and only because they don't know how to use the technology on the market today..
