I finished Episode 4 of the Captain with the 2001 WS and 2003 ALCS in it. So good. If you're on this board its a must watch!
Do I have to see the next episode? (that cursed year of 2004). I may put off seeing that episode for a while. I binged the entire series. Jeter is a hoot. I love hearing his less guarded and more pointed responses. His philosophy is one demanding incredible discipline - a modern day Marcus Aurelius. I remember Joe Torre saying one season that anytime Jeter was not playing, he would "drive you nuts" in the dugout. DJ didn't know what to do with himself when he wasn't in the game. His wife is beautiful and seemingly down to earth. I really like his dad - great sense of humor, fun-loving, and a healthy outlook on life. Seems like a guy you always want to invite to the BBQ. Glad you watched it rizz! Who knew Jeter was such a funny dude? The episodes I watched so far have been so good. I'm not looking forward to the next one which covers 2004. Jeter's dad is a a treasure and so is his mom. Also funny but expected how they made A-Rod the villain of the show. I loved how they got most of the key players for interviews. I even liked the little segment at the end of each episode where they have a kid interview Jeter. They definitely did the series well.

Not really a musical question buy it falls into the category of entertainment, Is anyone planning to watch the Shogun mini series which starts tonight? From what I remember about the original 70's version it was really good. Reviews of the remake have also been very good. To prepare for it I started rereading the book about a week ago.

I am definitely going to watch Shogun! It has a 100% positive score on Rotten Tomatoes and has gotten rave reviews so I'm excited to watch it. The only thing is I'm probably going to watch it with a friend when I visit him so I will wait to watch until then. Let me know how you like it! We have a TV/Movie thread somewhere in the archives, I can dig that up.

Kaybli, one of the differences that I have read is the remake witll tell the story more from the perspective of the captors and more closely align with the book.

OK, another thread to enjoy. I really enjoyed the recent mini-series Monsieur Spade. I thought Clive Owen was great. Anyone else see it?

The latest show I watched was True Detective Season 4. It wasn't as good as Season 1 of course, but I enjoyed it. It kept my interest through all the episodes and the acting performances were great. I definitely recommend it. What are some of your favorite shows?

I remember the original "Shogun" with Richard Chamberlain. Very good. I believe it was one of the earliest network mini-series, along with "Roots". Another mini-series that I really enjoyed from that era was "Rich Man, Poor Man", which was Nick Nolte's big break.

Really liked Better Call Saul and was sorry to see it end. I like Yellowstone and am patiently waiting to see how they write off Costner.

Loved the Americans, also enjoyed Sons of Anarchy. I haven't seen Breaking Bad, have to get into that one.

I've had several people recommend The Wire, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, and True Detective to me. I've never seen any of them. In fact, the only show on your list I have ever seen was a couple episodes of the Sopranos. I may have to check some of these out. I am really an old school TV guy. In fact, I probably haven't watched a network broadcast show's original airing in 5 to 10 years.

For some reason, I’ve never been a huge DeNiro fan. Admittedly, a fine actor (Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, The Deer Hunter), but I prefer the craft of those like Robert Duvall and Gene Hackman. Then, there are those I cannot help but watch like Humphrey Bogart and Gregory Peck. Morgan Freeman falls into that later category as well. I also love character actors like Peter Lorre, M. Emmitt Walsh, Jack Elam, Harry Dean Stanton, and Elisha Cook, Jr. Then, there are characters themselves: I’ll watch - from any era - listen, or read anything having to do with Sherlock Holmes. The most enduring and fascinating character in the history of fiction. Did you see the Sherlock TV series staring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman? I heard it was real good. On my list of TV shows to watch. Excellent series...

This afternoon I watched Hitchcock's masterpiece "North by Northwest". "How does a girl like you, end up like a girl like you?" I have a box set of Hitchcock movies. Classics to be sure
