I already set my dvr to record Billy Joel... NY State of Mind, We didn't start the fire, Piano Man, Scenes From an Italian Restaurant, and the list goes on. I know some may chuckle at this, but I regard Joel as the greatest composer and lyricists of music in our times. Perhaps some day kids will be learning about him like I did about Bach, Beethoven, etc… What about Perry Como, Andy Williams, and Robert Goulet?

All good performers in their own right, though…

I watched the TY Cobb movie the other night. I think Tommy Lee Jones is a pretty good actor but seemed miscast as Ty Cobb. Man was Cobb a jerk.

Has any one seen the 1953 baseball movie "The Big Leaguer" with Edward G. Robinson?

I did manage to get my Grandfather to watch Star Trek and thank God, that he loved Westerns too.

What no Tony Bennette? He could easy handled "New York State of Mind" Many could sing that song. One could write it… Billy Joel comes from the music era of writer/singer. Tony Bennette, Andy Williams and Perry Como come from an era were vocalists were not songwriters. They selected their music from the top songwriters of their time.

They selected their music from the top songwriters of their time. This might be true of the genre (pop, rock, show not sure what one these all fit in) they sang for. But I think you would find country western in the same era they sang in who sang and wrote their songs.
