Some really good vocals on those songs. Try singing the harmony to Summer Breeze. Another voice from the soundtrack of youth gone. Alas...

Yeah, Seals sang most of the lead vocals, so Crofts was hitting those harmonies. "Summer Breeze" definitely had an interesting chord structure as well. They had just a touch of dissonance in some of their songs, like "Hummingbird," to separate them from the pack.

Was it your band that had the balls to play "Little Red Riding Hood"? Full disclosure: a band I was in also did it. But we regularly did awful songs in all innocence without realizing how bad they were.

Not counting high school band, a couple of us did have a kinda garage band, be we never played anywhere and I wasn't very good. Didn't really pick up guitar again til years later. Still not in a band, but go to a few open mic nights, used to play with a friend, but he died about a year and a half ago. We did, and I still do, play Little Red Ridin' Hood--and always play it at Halloween. Always well received. If it turns into a jam, I'll play Woolly Bully since it's also a Sam the Sham tune (having only 3 chords helps as I am of limited talent, but its great for others to pick up and add their leads).

Three chords and a cloud of dust. I'm with you there. G7, C7, D7 = party time. "Louie Louie," "Gloria," "She's About A Mover," "Summertime Blues" anything by The Ramones, you're good to go. Sam the Sham had a few others, not quite as big hits, like "Lookin' For Ring-Dang-Doo" and "JuJu Hand" and "The Hair On My Chinny-Chin-Chin." But never within a mile of a ninth chord or an augmented chord! Domingo Samudio from Dallas TX. He used to arrive at his concerts in an old Packard hearse. Still alive as far as I know.

Samudio is still living at 85 years of age. The Wiki article I read said he still performs from time to time…

I think it would be cool seeing an 85 year old dude getting down to “Wooly Bully.” “Riding Hood” might be a little hard to handle, depending on how he delivered it…

When I look at these two Pics = They remind me of this song (I REALLY miss these GREAT Times):
Summer Wine Lyrics [Intro: Lana Del Rey] Strawberries, cherries and an angel's kiss in spring My summer wine is really made from all these things
[Verse 1: Barrie James O'Neill] I walked in town on silver spurs that jingled to A song that I had only sang to just a few She saw my silver spurs and said lets pass some time And I will give to you summer wine Oh, Summer wine [Chorus: Lana Del Rey] Strawberries, cherries and an angel's kiss in spring My summer wine is really made from all these things Take off your silver spurs and help me pass the time And I will give to you summer wine Mm, Summer wine
[Verse 2: Barrie James O'Neill] My eyes grew heavy and my lips, they could not speak I tried to get up but I couldn't find my feet She reassured me with an unfamiliar line And then she gave to me more summer wine Mm, Summer wine
[Chorus: Lana Del Rey] Strawberries, cherries and an angel's kiss in spring My summer wine is really made from all these things Take off your silver spurs and help me pass the time And I will give to you summer wine Mm, Summer wine
[Verse 3: Barrie James O'Neill & Lana Del Rey] When I woke up, the sun was shining in my eyes (in my eyes) My silver spurs were gone, my head felt twice its size(in my eyes, uh) She took my silver spurs, a dollar and a dime(Uh, Uh) And left me cravin' for more summer wine Oh, uh, Summer wine [Chorus: Lana Del Rey & Barrie James O'Neill] Strawberries, cherries and an angel's kiss in spring My summer wine is really made from all these things Take off your silver spurs and help me pass the time And I will give to you summer wine Mm, Summer wine Mm, Summer wine Mm, Summer wine
[Outro: Lana Del Rey] Ta ta da, ta da ta ta Tu tu tu du, tu da Tu tu tu da, tu da Ah, ah
