Thank you Inger! Never serve greasy turkey on your good China, especially if it's Chile.

Good ones. I had thought of Nena, but forgot Falco. Since we're going Euro, some other OHWs from there would include Denmark's Jorgan Ingmann ("Apache") from 1961, Spain's Los Bravos ("Black Is Black") from 1966, and more obscure (but made it to number 24) Italy's Rita Pavone ("Remember Me") in 1964. And another from Italy Domenico Modugno for "Volare" in 1958. Oh of course, The Singing Nun (Soeur Sourire) from Belgium with "Dominique" in 1963. A-ha from Norway and Scorpions from Germany and Golden Earring from the Netherlands and naturally ABBA from Sweden had multiple hits. "Twilight Zone" by Golden Earring is another video I associate from early MTV.

Listen to Exile on Main Street by the Stones, then put on Arthur by the Kinks. If it’s a longer flight, just repeat. God save the Kinks.✌️ Absolutely. Kinks fan here from the get-go "You Really Got Me" in October 1964. I do tend to lean toward their older stuff on account of I'm old -- favorites are things like "Til The End Of The Day" and "Dedicated Follower Of Fashion" -- but it's all good. The only one I never quite got was "Come Dancin'". But they are one of the essential bands. The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society! Too bad that dumb Union Ban really hurt them from 1967-1968, when they couldn't tour in the US. A long-time Kinks fan since 1964. I felt that they sang more about England than the Beatles did. In the 1970's, I saw them perform one of their Rock Operas live at Rutgers in New Brunswick. I feel that Ray Davies was one of best English songwriters of his time. My favorite song is still "Waterloo Sunset." I caught a PBS special on the 50th anniversary of The Village Green Preservation Society, which feature both Davies Brothers.

Glad you know about F&F. A YouTube sensation from the Atlanta area. Love them.

That explains why after "Sunny Afternoon" in 1966, they didn't have another big single in the US until "Lola" in 1970. Yeah, they never seemed to be as internationalized as The Beatles (or Stones or Who for that matter) and more rooted in the UK. Although they did do "Hollywood Boulevard." Ray Davies is definitely one of my favorite songwriters. Both pointed and humorous and unconcerned about following prevailing viewpoints within the rock world.

First we ever heard of her with that song. Nesmith was another really talented guy. My favorite song by him from his Monkees' days was "What Am I Doing Hangin' 'Round" which I always assumed he wrote but recently discovered it was written by Michael Murphy, he of "Wildfire" notoriety. I liked a lot of Nesmith's solo work, starting with "Joanne."

The Kinks still had singles released like "Dead End Street" and others but their record label Reprise Records didn't find away to properly promote the group except their "God Save the Kinks Campaign." I do remember that 2 FM DJ's in New York City, Bob Lewis and Scott Muni did give "the Green Village Preservation Society" initial 1968 playing on their shows on WNEW-FM and WPLJ-FM, especially Scott who would give us the latest British music stuff on his Friday afternoon program "Things from England." Also Scott did do the premier the Classic Kinks Rock Opera "Arthur" on his show.
