I don't live in Scottsdale...I live in the "West Valley". And you shouldn't get the wrong idea when I told you the last place I lived in SoCal was Anaheim Hills. The houses at the bottom of "Anaheim Hills" development between the "91" and Santa Ana Canyon Road were very modestly priced. I paid $40K in '74. I also bought a home in 1974. Only paid $22,000. You’re wealthy by comparison… We had a townhouse in Placentia we paid $20K for in '71. Sold it and took the $4K to buy the house in Anaheim Hills.

I thought Smacksy the Sugar Smacks Seal did that one. Maybe it was Seals and Crofts. Or was it Bobby Seale and Marty Croft? It's so confusing. As I'm sure you know...Jim Seals and England Dan were brothers. Or have I got that confused? Yep, that's right. Lots of soft rock in that household.

I had forgotten about this song. Brings back memories and nostalgia from the 1980s - my high school and college years. By the way, Russ Kunkel had to be brought in for the recording of the percussion/drums. Regular drummer couldn't get it right. When in doubt, bring in the session musicians.

We doubled our money on the one we paid $22K for about. 2 years later. The next people that bought the property after us sold it to someone that razed it. I guess we got peak value from that one…

Roger Daltry is 80 years old…today… Fortunately he didn't die before he grew old. I like Daltry. But I do wonder how he deals with that song. If he is still performing it these days. Don't try to dig what we all say. Even a stupid teenager like I was at that time knew that song wasn't going to age well unless Daltry died very soon.

I think Daltry struggled with "the scream" the last few times they performed "Won't Get Fooled Again". Read somewhere that he might have started mouthing a pre-recording of it.

I'm guessing Daltry doesn't think much about still singing the song, since he didn't write it. It's strange, Daltry was the band's only lead singer but he didn't write any of their songs. It was all Townshend with a little of John Entwistle mixed in.

I've read that Townshend was very dismissive of Daltry...said something like Entwistle, Moon and himself were geniuses while Daltry was along for the ride.

Townshend has a real prickly personality, so that sounds like something he would say. In the past, he's also made negative comments about Moon and Entwistle.

Going back to Rod Stewart...several few years ago I was stopped at a red light in Downtown Albany, NY, just down the street from the state capitol. This guy with a rooster haircut wearing a black trench coat with an upturned collar came thru the crosswalk in front of me. I laughed to myself...a Rod Stewart wannabe. Once I got parked and started walking to my destination he was headed straight toward me and... I'll be damned...it was Rod Stewart. We smiled and nodded at each other as we passed. Turned out he was playing a show that night at what was then The Pepsi Arena. Apparently he liked to walk around the cities he was visiting to get a feel for the places.
