"I knew him when his arms were as skinny as his chord changes" - Bette Midler Ha! That reminded me of an old Todd Rundgren video is watched recently. E-MA-CIATED. Good lord, and he had a Playboy Centerfold chick for a long time. I tried to watch a video of his from 2021, but his voice and even his ability to hit any notes are gone… it was awful. “Hello, it’s Not Me Anymore”. I’m in the minority here, I believe. I like that song… That "chick" is the mother of Liv Tyler.

Saw Rungren as part of Ringo's All-Starr Band 6 or 7 years ago. He seemed to be having a good time. Did Bang on the Drum, a song he professed to hate. Maybe Ringo made him do it. He threw his pick into the audience at the end of the show. I spent 15 minutes after the crowd had left trying to find it. No luck.

Came across this the other day and found it interesting. It's almost 30 minutes long so everyone may not want to view it. I love inside stories like this. www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzEQFBDeWQo

Dylan is an odd duck, isn’t he? Thanks nyy. Usually with music I don’t want the labor pains, I just wanna hear the result, but you drew me in and I’m glad…

I think he was married to Gilda Radner for a minute or two. Dylan is different but I really like him. Has an appreciation for music history and even in his mid eighties he seems to be still pushing the envelope.

fitting that dylan mentioned mike bloomfield first, because it all started for dylan at newport w bloomfield and the butterfield band. and of course mike played on "like a rolling stone" and the "highway 61 revisited" album. bloomfield was my first guitar "hero" or at least major influence. totally scuffed up those 1st two butterfield albums trying to cop his licks.
here's one of my fave bloomfield solos recorded in 1967 w the electric flag. great attack, beautiful clean tone, incredible vibrato, advanced harmonic ideas. it's like he's peeling the notes off the neck. far ahead of anyone at the time. the singer was nick gravenites who just passed a week ago.
a totally different sound w the butterfield band in 1966. torrents of a raga-ish psychedelic energy. stick around til 4:14 for elvin bishop's solo who was no slouch either. saw them at the cafe au go go in nyc in '66. blew my mind.

There's a lot of good music on this release, with some alternate tracks from Highway 61 Revisited and Blond on Blond being just as good as the official released ones. One of the songs from the Newport Festival, a fantastic version of Maggie's Farm, that bumper mentioned is also on this. The Dylan and Bloomfield connections coming full circle.

of course. haven't really performed it but have played it at jam sessions. nice simple progression that everyone can play on.

what a great song. so many great john prine songs. of course there's "angel" but one of my faves is "the speed at the sound of loneliness". one of my absolute heros - nanci griffith, used to perform it regularly. she loved john. here's a great version of them doing it together. nanci's love of john is evident.
used to do "christmas in prison" back in the 70's. listening to it as i type. think i'll break it out this christmas.

Beautiful. That's the finger picking I'd love to be able to do...just don't have the determination & discipline to learn to do it well. Lazy...
