I don't think home runs are all that matters. But I am a heretic in that regard as well all know. I would rather have some bat .300 than hit 34 home runs.
Maybe sanchez can donate some of his many strike outs to our pitchers who have so few.

Of all the hitters that qualified for the AL batting title last season, only 10 hit over .300 and none of them were catchers. You might want to lower your expectations. |

Its not problem unique to him. Its the philosophy of most of the league. I just prefer a different type of baseball. The type played say before 1990 where hitting was more important and home runs less.
I don't claim it makes sense, its just my preference in games.
