Gonzalez has his work cut out for him tonight, the homer happy Padres are on fire right now. well, so much for that. I am not expert by any means, but I haven't felt as underwhelmed in a long time. Maybe it was an off night, but Marco's fastball seemed to top out at about 88. He has a decent breaking ball, and maybe his command was off a bit tonight. It happens. Unless this was an aberration, I can't imagine Cashman or Yankee fans being excited about him. Paddack, on the other hand got roughed up early, but he clearly has quality stuff. Too bad we have no chance to get him, at least until free agency, perhaps. Thanks for the report, ernesto! 9 hits in 5 innings, Gonzales was lucky to escape more damage.

He's a good pitcher but he needs to keep hitting those outside corners with that unimpressive fastball. He misses on location at all, it could be trouble. Thanks for the breakdown.

In that 3rd inning, he gave up 5 consecutive XBH. Double, homer, double, double, double, and 4 runs. Yikes. those were not cheap hits either, the Pads were centering the ball with line drives. One look is really not enough, but he was uninspiring last night.

New acquisition Rob Brantly is no more than emergency meat. He’s a glass in case of fire type of player. Don’t expect to ever see his number hung in the stadium...

We have to get a starting pitcher to go anywhere. We have essentially 3 right now including Cole, Happ, and Montgomery.

The Blue Jays have agreed to acquire right-hander Taijuan Walker from the Mariners, per Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. Seattle will receive a player to be named later who is not currently in the Blue Jays’ 60-man player pool.

Not to mention some promising youngsters and even Louis Cessa. We’re not getting blown out by anyone. We just need to get the bats started again...A hit here or there could have made a big difference...

The price seemed to be low. Maybe we could have gotten him for cheap too. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I am also in the camp that hopes Cashman can swing a deal for a quality starting pitcher. Lacking that happening, the Yankees should turn to their youngsters and give starts to Schmidt and Garcia. Maybe one of them shows he is ready, like some of other young pitchers that some clubs are giving a chance.
It seems like our hitters began pressing when the big 3 went down (Stanton, Judge, LeMahieu) and coupled with some egregious in-game manager decisions the Yankees look to be in a free-fall. The hitting with RISP was been markedly bad. What I have seen too much of is hitters taking a pitch (often the first pitch) down the middle, and then swinging at the 3rd strike well off the plate. The most aggressive hitter is Voit, and he is having the most success. I guess we have a new hitting coach, and maybe he is good. I would like to see a more aggressive approach on some of the other guys. Jump on the first pitch that is a strike. Not to beat more on Ford, but I can't get out of my mind him being up with bases loaded and one out, and he took 3 called strikes. That was a game near the beginning of the slide. Right now, this team looks like a shadow of the season start.
