No disrespect intended Inger but I'll take results over style points any day! I’ve often heard people say that it’s better to be lucky than good. I recall a few strikes that fell at the bowling alley that made me feel that way. Hmm. And some splits that looked like strike balls that gave me the opposite perspective... Its where you hit it not how hard

Both teams using starters on short rest. This has to favor the Yankees, right? Ours pitched in game 1. Theirs in game 2. Yes I think I it favors the Yankees because the stunt from game 2 could actually help them now if Cole can only go 5 and they need an inning or two Garcia is probably available now since it was basically a relief appearance. None of the Rays starters have normal rest.

But the friend I'm visiting lives in Asbury Park, NJ so we'll probably have funnel cake on the boardwalk afterward! Hopefully celebrating a Yankee victory!

Okay, let me know what you see in the data listed above. The MPH is exit velocity.

So if they win this I guess no Cole until game 4 and 3 days rest game 7 if necessary.
Series would start Sunday with I guess Happ or Garcia starting on regular rest.

I’ve often heard people say that it’s better to be lucky than good. I recall a few strikes that fell at the bowling alley that made me feel that way. Hmm. And some splits that looked like strike balls that gave me the opposite perspective... Its where you hit it not how hard The reality is that it’s usually an ideal combination of the two. The problem with max power is that it is so seldom athletically efficient so as to provide the sought after power. In the case of baseball, this is painfully demonstrated by the swing and miss. Since baseball is also a team sport, there are also defensive tactics that can be utilized to further reduce success. Anytime simple accuracy is sought, the resultant lack of power reduces the number of probable outcomes. I used to think of my swing as controlled aggression in both baseball (softball) and golf. I found that when I could reach that point where I was swinging as hard as I could without losing the feeling that I was keeping my body under control I would more typically get the best result I was capable of getting. Russ, it seems that you’re opinion on sports performance lacks actual experience. You’ve been more of an observer than a participant. What was your best participatory sport? I think mine would be golf, with baseball a close second. Bowling was respectable, even though I was seldom really aware of the “secrets” of getting more roll and pin action. I was an incredible badminton player for some reason. I was exceedingly poor at basketball, though not a bad shooter. Soccer, football... horrible! I didn’t understand the responsibilities of the positions, nor the concept of team play (also true in basketball). I told my boxing story recently. I outperformed expectations in that sport, but was never “good” at it in my opinion. I just played at the scientific part of the sport when most wanted to please their egos. Me strong, me fast. Kill. Finally, I was respectable at chess. My biggest bugaboo in that sport was my attention span.
