I would exercise Britton's deal, turn down Gardner's option, and of course decline Happ's option. Sounds right. I would consider bringing both Happ and Gardner back at reduced rates, though... I doubt Happ would take less because he would harbor resentment for the infamous missed early season start...

I think the Yankees like Gardner too much to turn it down. One might have thought that about Jeter, too. But when the end came, they did what they had to do. Curtis Granderson, Didi Gregorious. All nice guys, very likable. But again... their time came and went.

I think the Yankees like Gardner too much to turn it down. One might have thought that about Jeter, too. But when the end came, they did what they had to do. Curtis Granderson, Didi Gregorious. All nice guys, very likable. But again... their time came and went. Jeter's 2014 contract was 1 year 12 million.
