I too would like to sign Morton (as I have STATED before).
If I were Cash here are the FA's I would try to sign (most at reasonable $$$)--Not In Priority Order
--Morton --Darren O'Day --Brad Hand --Liam Hendriks --Roberto Osuna (he has pay his price)
--Corey Kluber (small invest $$$ --if he returns to form --WOW) --James McCann OR Austin Romine (Pair either with HIGGY = Almost Perfection) --Marcus Semien
--DJ LeMahieu (no more than 3-years) If he does not sign than Move Torres back to 2B -- Semien to play SS
WOULD TRADE: Sanchez Chapman (maybe package with Sanchez??? Get Chapman to waive No Trade) Heller Holder Hale Ford Hicks Lyons
WOULD LET THEM GO: Gardner (Thanks for the memories)
Paxton Happ Tanaka

Rumors, rumors and more rumors... I wouldn't mind Morton on a short deal. Me neither. I can certainly think of pitchers I’d rather have, but not at Morton’s price or contract length...

So, the Yankees did not issue a qualifying offer to Masahiro Tanaka (1 year at 18.9 m), which makes him a free agent. My assumption is that the Yankees would like to offer him a three or four year deal at a rate lower than his qualifying offer. However, it would have made better fiscal sense to at least offer a one-year deal. So, does this mean that the Yankees are willing to let him walk, concentrating on Bauer first? The pitching market is pretty thin, and Tanaka should not be far down the ladder from Bauer. I can see many teams wanting Tanaka, and there is a real possibility Bauer signs elsewhere, and in the interim so does Tanaka. The Yankees appear to be letting Paxton and Happ walk, and Severino will not be ready until the all star break. While we have young starting talent, they are certainly unpredictable and unproven at this point.

I hope they can sign him at a relatively reasonable rate for a few years. If not we'll definitely have to get at least one other pitcher in the FA market if not two. We can't go to next season with a rotation of Cole, Garcia, Montgomery, half a year of Sevy, German, and Schmidt. Thats way too thin.

But I wouldn't object to a one year deal. Much rather have Charlie Morton of course.

1) Re-sign LeMahieu to play 3B 2) Re-sign Paxton 3) Estevan Florial +Cliff Frazier + Oswaldo Peraza for Francisco Lindor. Torres moves to 2B. 4) Sign Jason Castro 5) Trade Gio Urshela/Gary Sanchez/Miguel Andujar for pitching

Hard for me to part with him! Just pullin your chain. You should sign up and become a regular poster!
I have no idea if that's a good package for Lindor, but the trade would have to be contingent on signing him to an extension because I'm not giving up Frazier for only one year of Lindor. And I'm not sure the Yankee ownership wants to spend all that money to extend Lindor when we have Gleyber for cheap for a few more years. It would also be hard for me to give up Gio. But your ideas are a creative solution to our infield logjam.

I refuse to accept the phrase "replace D.J. LeMahieu" This guy is just a perfect fit with the Yankees and the team certainly has the means to keep him.
