Interesting. The Yankees can probably get Lindor - on his walk year - without giving up Gleyber Torres. Too many years before Gleyber starts making big coin. If the Yankees were to ever give up Gleyber, I’d like to see a left handed batter who can hit. Yankees are really right handed for their stadium, and Gleyber is best when he uses all fields. Hard to give up that kind of a hitter in today’s game.

McCann signs with the Mets. I would have done this deal and dropped Sanchez. Net of 5 million dollars more per year, well worth it.

I wonder, would Lindor be that much better than Torres to make up whatever it cost to trade for him and than the large financial commitment to keep him past 2021? I have my doubts. Like you said, Gleyber is years away from costing serious money, so keep him at SS, resign DJ and go after Bauer.

Like you said, Gleyber is years away from costing serious money, so keep him at SS, resign DJ and go after Bauer. Lindor is darn close to a magician in the field, especially in comparison to Torres. Lindor is darn near to a racehorse on the bases compared to wrong-way Torres. They both have strong offensive upside. So ghere’s that. I think talk of moving Torres back to second base and shuttling DJ to first are at least 2-3 years away from making any sense. I’m going to root for any of the three that we wind up with, but to me Torres is expendable, but he needs to bring back a starting pitcher unless he’s included in a deal for Lindor. And, this team could use some foot speed, and the ability to swipe a few bags...

MLB rumors: With Yankees, DJ LeMahieu $25M apart, Blue Jays ‘desperately want’ batting champ
According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, the sides are one year and $25-million apart on an agreement. ”He wants five years, $100 million,” Nightengale said Friday night on MLB Network’s Baseball Tonight. “The Yankees are more interested in four years around $75 million. They can split the difference.” That might be how this shakes out. Unless … According to Yankees broadcaster Michael Kay, the Toronto Blue Jays are just as eager to sign LeMahieu as the Yankees. “I know for a fact from people I know in Toronto that the Blue Jays desperately want him,” Kay said Friday on his ESPN radio show. “And they’ve got a lot of infielders, too. They desperately want him. “Would (LeMahieu) want to go to Toronto? That’s the question.” A lot of industry people doubt it, but LeMahieu might be tempted if Toronto offers five years for $110 million and the Yanks won’t go more than four for around $85 million.

To be quite honest, I think 5/$100M is too much. LaMahieu is a GOOD, not GREAT player. Don’t treat him like a man that just batted .364 for a whole season. It was for a 60 game season. His decline phase could start any season now.
He’s been real coy. “I want to be a Yankee”. If it has to be 5/100, then let him walk. There are other fish in the sea...

4 years @ 80 million with an option for a 5th season. I've been saying this for weeks and I'm sticking to it. D.J. had the second highest WAR in the AL last season and is the most important hitter in the Yankee lineup, he's a perfect fit for that team. I don't want to imagine the Yankee lineup without him, it would be a whole lot of swinging and missing.
