Do you all remember the myriad trade scenarios from old Karl to get King Felix every season? He's probably out there somewhere, trying to get Felix in pinstripes.

Speaking of: somehow IPK won the closer job on KC. He saved 30 games, the only 30 saves of his career. I wonder if that is the most saves ever for a pitcher who got all of his saves in one season. Is he a new trivial question winner,

Except for the Pokémon comparison, this was a fine representation of many fans’ feelings this hot-stove season: www.pinstripealley.com/2021/1/28/22254055/mlb-yankees-offseason-masahiro-tanaka-japan-return-rakuten-eagles-sgtjs-one-last-time“Over his seven years (Tanaka) earned an estimated $140.5 million. His value over those seven years has been $150.8 million. Bringing Tanaka back made too much sense for the Yankees, and yet here we are. The richest franchise in the league crying poor and trying to avoid a luxury tax that is essentially peanuts for them.” “TV and streaming service blackouts still exist for some reason when everyone and everything is moving digital. I’ve said it before, but I will never not be impressed with MLB’s desire to grow the game while simultaneously making sure no one watches.“ “This one really stings.“ (On Tanaka not being signed)

While Bauer had a great year last year I really don't think his career numbers over just over 500 and a 3.90 era is worth 40 something million.

Cole on the other hand is almost 50 games over 500 with a 3.19 era

The Dodgers, reigning World Series champions, suddenly don’t have room for either pitcher in their 2021 five-man rotation, now that they’ve added 2020 NL Cy Young winner Trevor Bauer to the mix. Bauer and the Dodgers reportedly agreed on a three-year deal Friday afternoon, worth $102 million. Bauer will make $40 million in 2021 and $45 million in 2022, and he has opt-outs after each of the first two years.
I can ONLY guess that $1.5 million/year was too expensive for the Yankees???!!!

Plus I feee like his mouth could cause problems internally to some teams. From the drone business to harassing a woman on twitter to throwing the ball over the CF wall after a rough outing, its always something with him.
