The A's spend some cash on a couple of relievers.

Sergio Romo facts:
A 28th round draft pick for the Giants who never had anything more than an average fastball. He’s only 5’ 10” if he’s standing on a few wet towels.
He wasn’t supposed to make it to the majors, but he just kept climbing the MiLB levels. He’s now going into his 14th MLB season. He’s thrown over 50% sliders in his career, throwing more and more of one of the best horizontal sliders in the game to where he’s now throwing almost 2/3 sliders now, along with 1/4 fast balls and 1/8th change ups.
I never saw myself as a fan, until his performance pushed me to see what he can do with minimal weaponry. It did. I think that slider should play another 1/2 dozen years... we’ll see...

If Stanton can stay healthy... If Judge can stay healthy... If Kluber can pitch after two years... If Taillon can pitch after two years... If Severino can pitch after TJS... If German can return to what he was before the suspension... If Deivi can take another step forward... If Monty can build on his half season after TJS... If Sanchez can rebound after two and a half years... If Gio will be the same after elbow surgery... If Torres will be in shape and rebound from last season... If Frazier can build on last season...
Amazing how this team nearly made it to the World Series after essentially relying on Cole, LeMahieu, Voit and the bullpen.

Amazing how this team nearly made it to the World Series after essentially relying on Cole, LeMahieu, Voit and the bullpen. The feeling I’ve carried with me for the past several seasons has been that we have a lot of really good baseball players on this team, but we don’t have a really good team. We’re sort of the opposite of the 1994 team. That team had a lot of good players, but they played well as a team. When players are constantly in and out of the lineup, it’s so hard to be consistent, and so hard to learn to cover for each other. The middle infield has a rhythm to it that becomes broken if the SS is out. Corner infielders can play well, but it just doesn’t make up for a new or inconsistent SS. When players that are usually near the top of the lineup are injured, someone has to step up, and it’s too often it just doesn’t happen. 2021 comes with so many ifs that I’m struggling to believe... I’ll be rooting and supportive, but it won’t be easy...

Rays have 9 prospects among ESPN’s top 100 for 2021
MLB offseason: 4 trades that could still happen before Opening Day.

Eh... still don’t care for Kiley. I found him to come of caustic, combative, and boring back in the day on Pinstripes. The arguments he posed with Patrick seemed completely self-indulgent, and I guess they served him well given the position he now holds with ESPN...
He may be right, but that doesn’t make me like him...

From the NYPost...I didn’t realize this:
“Robinson Chirinos, 36, played in 2019 for Houston, where he received plenty of action behind the plate with Cole on the mound: Over 68 ²/₃ innings with Chirinos as the catcher, Cole pitched to a 1.57 ERA with 114 strikeouts and 11 walks.“
This move made sense to me given our question marks at catcher, but this gives me both confidence and concern. Don’t be surprised if Higgy is in AAA no matter how he looks in Spring Training. Memories of Francisco Cervelli, who was cheated out of big league roster spot for Chris Davis. I don’t miss Girardi.

It seems we used to have so many posters that presented different and unusual viewpoints, sometimes to the point of our loving nausea. I miss most of that. Fat Kid and CERA Karl and his trades, along with his cryptic messages Yankee54 and his poor predictions based on inside info. Miggator with his seething negativity There were several other neggies one was something Bear Taz with his absolute attacks on anyone disagreeing with him I know my memory is not the best, and there are more...
