Slavery is only legal in the US for sports. Come on Russ, don't you think this is a little insulting to those throughout history that were actually slaves? I think the existing system is an invalid restricting of free trade. If someone wanted to go from corporation A to B and they were not allowed people would have fits. Except in sports.

The fact that there is a union for the players and that MLB is a whole entity to which all the teams belong to invalidates your point. I think he will retire He'll easily get 15 million+ per year, probably closer to 20 if we weren't in the middle of this pandemic. Plus, he is also rumored to have a huge offer to return to Japan to pitch in the Japanese league. Why would he retire?

He’s definitely still a 15-20 million per year guy. Returning to Japan could become an option if NY doesn’t want him... He may not play elsewhere in the states...
