Bringing Gardner back makes sense. The Yankees might already have an agreement with him are waiting to clear some 40 man roster spots to make it official.

Well, with the Ottavino trade, a roster spot has been cleared and the money is available to bring Jet back.

With the Yankees using the luxury threshold as a hard cap though is it really worth it? Get another innings eater.

Trevor Bauer. For the money the Yankees are willing to spend, just other reclamation projects.

It pays to be left-handed in a ball park favoring lefties and a nearly exclusive right-handed hitting lineup. How do the Yankees even let that happen?

With so many right handed batters that hit to right field, I can see this as a sort of “Money Ball” strategy. For decades teams have gone into Yankee Stadium with left-handed pitching to force the Yankees to play their RHH hitters and bench those lefty bats...

Friday afternoon on WFAN's Moose & Maggie, general manager Brian Cashman gave a mixed response when asked about the Yankees and Gardner.
"He's a free agent, so I can't speak to that. But I can tell you he's always been a great Yankee and awesome every step of the way," Cashman said. "Ultimately, I'm a big fan and always have been and always will be. He's very talented and his career is not over, but where it continues is TBD. We'll see if we're part of that or not, but he's a special person and a special player."
My guess is Gardner is prob trying to get more than they want to pay, but honestly if wants to come back he should just take the 2-3 mil or whatever it is and be done with it. I can't see him getting much more than that.

I can't see him getting much more than that. The market has been rough on some of these veteran players, like Gardner. I think he'll be back and he and Tauchman will be the bench OF's.
