Michael King gave us something to smile about. He kept the Yankees within striking distance. Not used to seeing this team fail to at least once get the tying run to the plate in the last two innings.

YANKEES LOSE, THEEEEEEEEEEE YANKEES LOSE On pace to go 54-108... Fire the manager... release everybody ..,, bring up the YOUTH, for they are our FUTURE!. Trade the coaches! Bring the fences in 39 feet! Put the bases closer together. Liven the dampened baseballs...give the players PEDs, or maybe just vitamins... grilled cheese for the fans... almonds, they’re low in fat!...

Hicks only struck out once. Must be seeing the ball much better.

I swear if they lose this game 3-1 or 3-2, I'm going to be pissed. Wake up offense! They looked like this most of spring training. So frustrating, but they'll eventually break out of it. Makes me appreciate those 90's teams more than ever. They were so much fun to watch. Was actually surprised Cashman kept the position player part of the roster pretty much the same, hope I am wrong but it has just felt stale for a while now.

Hicks only struck out once. Must be seeing the ball much better. We have Hick's entire major league career that suggests he's a bad hitter, but Boone isn't buying it.

The Long Haul is Aaron Hicks turning 32 years old in October, and he’s had one season with more than 90 hits (2018 - 119 hits) in his career. Derek Jeter once had 50 hits in August.

Aaron Hicks is a career .234 hitter with one home run every 26 at bats. Boone is deluding himself if he thinks Hicks is suddenly going to have an epiphany and become a good hitter. We should never have signed him to a new contract several years ago.

I have never been sure why they think Hicks is worth the money they pay him. Which causes us problems since we could use his salary to get another starter. The yankees no longer have unlimited funds and need t consider more than they used to.
Of course Stanton has worked out even worse. And his contract won't go away.

Why can’t they bunt to third where there is no defender? we don't bunt.

Hey Russ, We’re 1-2 and we already need a foil. Hicks is cheap, features outstanding fielding, throwing, speed skills. Yeah. That career BA is hard to look at, but you have to allow for his OBP and it doesn’t sting so bad. And he hits some homers in bunches at times. The point is that these strikeouts are not characteristic and they will pass. The secondary point is that his contract is not hard to swallow because it was adjusted as to reflect not only they skill set, but both the still-existent skill set, and the history of injury.

The Stanton contract makes it look like we were paying Ellsbury minimum wage. He has struck out 38% of his plate appearances since he has been here. He has had one good home run year. Granted he has been hurt a lot but that should factor into a player's value to a team, in my opinion.

Respectfully Inger I realize Hicks is good in the field, etc but as far as him hitting home runs in bunches I don't see that. He has had one season with the Yankees with more than 15 home runs. Maybe he is our best option. I'll leave that up to Boone and you folks smarter than me to figure out.
