“ If we’re going to be the team we expect to be, Aaron Hicks is going to be right in the middle of that and play a huge role for us,” Boone said. “Nothing has changed in my mind other than he’s one of the guys that’s gotten off to a slow start and would benefit from a day off, maybe two. Nothing has changed as far as what I believe Aaron is going to be for us this year and how important he’s going to be for us this year.”I simply cannot fathom the Yankees’ faith in Aaron Hicks. And, in the middle of the order? He’s never batted above .266, never had more than 119 hits in any season. He will turn 32 this season. And, it’s not Paul Blair we are watching in centerfield. What are they seeing?

No Hicks for two days. Can't hurt our run production.

It’s definitely poor people’s food that we ate when I was young. So it brings back memories... that feeling you had when you were largely devoid of responsibility. All you had to do was live. I make that sandwich and when I sit at the table, I’m 4 or 5 years old again, trying to keep the beans from falling out from between the slices of bread. Feeling the bean juice get away and start to run down my hand. Not worrying about if I’m getting proper nutrition, nor the coming gastric side effects. The flies are sticking to the flypaper on the kitchen window. The dusty light bulb without a cover is turned on above the sink, the only place in the house with running water.. The front yard is green and full of bumblebees. There’s a constant drone of traffic off the busy 4 lane Route 40 that flies past our house everyday. I don’t notice or even know how shabby the place is. Half of the front is hidden behind an overgrown rose bush any way. Behind that rose bush, where it’s damp and dark, the termites have been chewing for years. Their starting to break through into the inside. But I don’t care. Isn’t that the way life is supposed to be? ... I don’t think we have any Campbells baked beans, and I really don’t feel like running to the store right now. Darn. I could use one of those sandwiches right now. Maybe two... To each his own. Vive la difference, Monsieur! I can relate, though. Every once in a while, Sarah would come back from the grocery store with Lunchables or a Chef Boyardee Pizza Kit, like she was eight years old. I didn’t partake; it was her thing. And, it made her happy. I believe it made her feel close to her mother. As you said, like a little kid without a care in the world. Sarah never lost that child-like ability to experience wonder. It’s a gift. Keeps us young at heart, Inger. The reason we pout when the Yankees lose, and when they win, all is right with the world.

Another game with DISH. Another game with two channels dedicated to tonight’s game. Another game with the visiting team announcers on both channels. This has to have something to do with YES and some greedy terms...

Freeman went the other way against the shift. Why can't we?

Freeman went the other way against the shift. Why can't we? Because it’s deceitful and basically rude. Not nice. We are the good guys and won’t resort to tactics that might win a game...

1. DJ LeMahieu (R) 2B 2. Aaron Judge (R) RF 3. Brett Gardner (L) CF 4. Giancarlo Stanton (R) DH 5. Gleyber Torres (R) SS 6. Mike Ford (L) 1B 7. Gary Sanchez (R) C 8. Gio Urshela (R) 3B 9. Mike Tauchman (L) LF Gardner and Tauchman get a start together. This is our best defensive outfield by far. LeMahieu returns to his best defensive position as well, and there is an actual first baseman at first base. Mike Ford Tough will never make you think of Donny Mattingly or Keith Hernandez, but he will make the plays within his glove range. Speaking of Donnie Baseball, he turns 60 today! Enjoy this clip of Mattingly, hopefully it brings us luck.
