There's a nice curve to get Freeman. Taillon reminds me a bit of Phil Hughes. Hughes fell in love with his fastball at the expense of his other pitches. Then, when he didn’t have fastball command, he had little confidence in his breaking ball to grind through innings. Also, I never understood why Hughes refused to develop a change up...just convinced himself he couldn’t do it in his 20s. Just weird and disappointing.

Let's hope it ends better in pinstripes for Taillon! Hughes at least had some good years I wouldn't call him a total bust but he never got the level we thought he would be.

His best season by far was the year the Yankees used him primarily out of the pen. He and Joba should have been a great duo. While both certainly had their moments, they fell far short of where their talent should have taken them. Maybe with better coaching? Although Joba might have been an unsalvagable headcase.

Improvisation on the mound is definitely a lost art. We have throwers rather than pitchers now.
