How does old ass Kung Fu Panda have a 1.519 OPS? Just saw he's only 34. He's seemingly been around forever.

Nice to see clips of El Tiante. An elderly family friend used to say his windup reminded him of Cy Young.
But Cy Young was no more distant from when he was telling me that than Whitey Ford is from today. And Whitey Ford doesn't seem all that long ago to me.
The moral of the story is that we get old real fast.

Taillon reminds me a bit of Phil Hughes. Hughes fell in love with his fastball at the expense of his other pitches. Then, when he didn’t have fastball command, he had little confidence in his breaking ball to grind through innings. Also, I never understood why Hughes refused to develop a change up...just convinced himself he couldn’t do it in his 20s. Just weird and disappointing. Hughes seemed to have all the tools. His best season by far was the year the Yankees used him primarily out of the pen. He and Joba should have been a great duo. While both certainly had their moments, they fell far short of where their talent should have taken them. Maybe with better coaching? Although Joba might have been an unsalvagable headcase. Hughes was a typical laid back, Southern California boy. He wasn’t maniacal or burned to win like O’Neill, Jeter, Mo, Posada, and Pettitte.

How cool to see that Mattingly home run and a packed house at Yankee Stadium.

Torres looked completely lost in that AB. I'll settle for a forceout.

Ford picking up where he left off last year.
And that is a nasty mustache.

Torres looked completely lost in that AB. I'll settle for a forceout. You can probably count on one hand how many balls Gleyber has hit hard this season.

Torres looked completely lost in that AB. I'll settle for a forceout. Agreed. All I’ve seen Torres do all year is the old “Swing hard in case you hit the ball”...

How cool to see that Mattingly home run and a packed house at Yankee Stadium. I had tears in my eyes watching that games at my Yankee buddy’s home. Mattingly just missed the run. He could have rested his back by DHing, but he retired to take care of family issues at home.
