Loaisiga warming to come in now? That makes me nervous in a one run game.

Sterling will be 83 in July. He is befuddled under the best of circumstances, but mistakes like that are really embarrassing. I hope somebody in the front office is working on a gently-worded memo to him about maybe taking some time off. He already did that last year for like a week. It didn't help I guess. I mean I could see if it was the same pitcher or inning, but it was neither. Apparently Sterling is popular with Yankee fans. By now there are many who don't remember any other radio broadcaster. He may be a nice guy, but I've always thought he was sort of a clown. Knows less about the game than the average blogger, makes the game a performance that is all about him and spends more time working on his schtick than preparing for the game. To me he seems like the Ted Baxter character on Mary Tyler Moore. Pompous and lacking any self-awareness. But I acknowledge that most fans don't share my dim view of him.

He def makes it a show, but I agree he's lost a lot lately and even the best know they have to step down eventually. How do you not know you are calling a live game?

I agree with all that you said. I do enjoy his HR calls and Yankees Win call just because they're so goofy.

Plenty of broadcasters hang on too long. Keith Jackson was to totally lost his last few years. Not many stay unchanged well into their 80s like Vin Scully.

Even fewer will be making a salary like his. That’s quite an accomplishment... But the end is near for John in his profession...
