Johnny L didn't seem the least fazed in the closer role. That was impressive. Should be a good confidence builder.

I wasn’t able to watch the game tonight, and it seems I missed a good one. I just watched the condensed game - about eight minutes. Cole looked especially focused against Bieber, relishing top tier competition. He wears those Pinstripes well.

He had to be great tonight, since Bieber was also throwing well. The offense is still not on track but at least they're hitting HR's again. Great work by Loaisiga closing out the game, the Yanks win 2-1 with Chapman and Green not available.

Cole looked especially focused against Bieber, relishing top tier competition. He wears those Pinstripes well. I almost commented early in the game that I was predicting two Yankee home runs, but something held me back. Odd. 😂 I did note to myself early on that Bieber’s fastball wasn’t that impressive-looking to me. It was sitting 93 and had no movement at all. He truly had to locate it well, and he also used it much like a reverse change-up, living and dying more with his curve and slider. Early on the slider was out of the strike zone, perhaps on purpose because he had little feel for it. Somehow it’s almost like he gets by as much on attitude as anything else. Very confident, and that little rocking that he does for a timing mechanism seems to accentuate the confidence...

Speaking of timing mechanisms, I’m not sure I could keep myself from going out to mound to bust Karinchak in the chops. By the time he got to his sixth toe tap I know I could be out there. What is THAT bush horse sh*t for? ...

Kay and O'Neill were commenting on the broadcast how impressed they were that Bieber can be so dominating without overwhelming stuff. The guy is a pitcher and gets it done in way different way than Cole or DeGrom.
