I still think Gary Sanchez might be hopeless in turning it around though. I'd make it closer to a 50/50 Higgy/Gary split at this point.

For some reason Higashioka always under achieved with the bat in MiLB. I remember Patrick talking about how he always looked good at the plate, made decent contact, but the numbers never looked like they should. Well, our little Higgy has grown quite a bit, but he still tends to be ultra-aggressive as a hitter. Lots of good pitchers could take advantage of that tendency, especially once Higgy burns them a time or two. Yes. I admit it. I want Sanchez gone. But we have no one to replace him with. Might as well just reduce his work load...

The reason I feel it to be so important to get Voit back on the field is because there is a little rockslide that follows. DJ goes back to second, and Odor goes either into a utility role, or completely away... so Voit causes three corrections... I would guess Ford would be sent out since Odor would be our only other infielder, unless something happens in the meantime. I would prefer Wade but it doesn't look like that will happen. For the life of me I don't understand how the Yankees could bring in Odor(I know he was free). He has done nothing in years. It seems to me it is time for the Yankees to develop someone in the farm system that can be a productive infielder. A question for those more knowledgeable. Do we have a catcher in our system that could spell Higgy if Sanchez were to come down with a mysterious injury(to be certain I am not wishing him ill)? We need a catcher that brings something to the table besides Higgy.

Yes, Odor is the emergency catcher. Rob Brantly and Kellin Deglan are on minor league contracts and I guess would be next in line to be called up in case of injury. Neither is on the 40-man roster. Robinson Chirinos is on the IL.

Robinson Chirinos is on the IL. Deglan is 27 and has yet to make his MLB debut. Brantly is 31 and has played just enough to show that he’s not very likely to produce much more than we’re getting from Sanchez... We didn’t do a good job of protecting our depth at the position when Chirinos went down. We should have nabbed another catcher... But we know how hard money is to come by in NY these days, right? ...

Chirinos actually did resign apparently so once he's over the fractured wrist I guess he's an option ?
